Why can't we (Enigma 1) download the Sky EPG from the satellite the same way a sky digibox does?
What makes it not possible?
Sky uk sends epg data only in opentv format, there is simply not enough memory to process it on a dm500. Most other boxes now have plugins that do capture the data via satellite, maybe its time to upgrade.

It is possible on other E1 boxes, Dm600pvr, Dm7020 with the week epg plugin although reports vary on how well.
If you are upgrading i would definatley move to an E2 reciever,The best idea would be to start another thread asking what linux box and get some feedback from owners to help you decide which one is right for you.
