Help Please With downloading ipk files

I need your help please ,every time I try and download any ipk files with windows 7 i get this message
unrar 4.0.4-ro- mip32el 1 .ipk the archivein unknown format or damaged .I am using the latest Vix Image on the vu+duo,i look forward to your reply s please m8s.

use 7zip to decompress the .ipk file

Sounds like you have winrar set as the default program to open this type of file & what you are seeing is this.

You can open this type of file with 7zip but there is no need, ipk is the format you install to your vu+ so just use them as they are.
