Replacing TiVo

  • Hope you can all advise on this, we currently have TiVo but don't really use the subscription channels. We are looking to replace V***** with a freesat receiver, but would still like the ability to record 3 channels at once. I am split at the moment, between a 60cm and 80cm motorized dish. What channels would be of worth value on 19.2 and hotbird, wouldn't mind some 3pm kick off's. Or is it worth just sticking with 28.2?

If i want to record multiple channels, do i need a multi tuner box? I thought if it pointed to the satellite it would just record? Also we would like another box n our bedroom, so this would need a dual LNB yes?

    Thanks in advance.

  • if you want to view one channel whislt recording a second then you do need an E2 stb with dual tuner which requires two feeds of cable to the tuners.
for another bedroom you could get another E2 reciever and feed over net so you wouldnt need the lnb to be quad feeding that one..
the more efficient size dish is a good diameter to capture other sats and LNB quad...then direct feed to both tuners and bedroom

Thanks for this, so if we had a box with 3 tuners downstairs and one with a tuner upstairs would a quad LNB do? I know you can feed over the net but could not run cables, would WiFi do?

Would it be worth getting a dish that picks up the other satellites, FTA channels that is? Or are there not many with english sound?

Can you get additionally tuners for the likes of the VU+ boxes, as seen some have spare slots in the back? Would a USB tuner work?

Sorry for all the questions, just trying to choose the right option.
