If you can afford it go for the duo2, a good alternative is the solo2 though. You won't be disappointed with either buddy.

Have you considered the Gigablue Quad ?, it runs the same CPU as the solo2 and is only £250 from the site sponsor, plus as the name suggests it can be configured for 4 tuners ( 2 built in, 2 plug and play that you can add later if you wish ).
-
solo2 original it is great i am cery happy with it specially with the meoboot installed in it
-
The solo2 is very fast and loads of support for it.
-
thought about the Gigablue Quad but was not to sure how they ran compared to vu solo2 or the tm-2t after the last drivers seemed to sort it out
does any body have a quad running day to day as there main box for a user report lol
cheers tebaa -
Get a solo 2 gigablue wont resell so well its like a golf but not a golf
-
like a golf but not a golf lol good analogy
-
you just need to look at the gigablue remote to see the care they took to put out a nice product :62:
-
Gigablue did not design the remote it's a generic third party remote and the same one that Technomate use, the build quality of the receiver has nothing to do with the remote. At this moment in time the Gigablue Quad is the best receiver value wise and has a good deal of support with regular driver updates.
-
It wont worry you because as you say you dont watch a lot of tv but if you do you dont want a scabby remote in your hand resell value of a gigblue very low for a few bob more you have a vu+ and a good one at that case closed
-
gigablue quad is a really good box. i own one myself and its never let me down. dual core etc. really fast. but its really upto you mate, you cant really let anyone decide for you
-
Save the wonga and get an expeed lx2, cracking box at about £170....bloody nice remote too
-
scottishbloke how many tuners do you have in the quad and does it run hot .and how often do you need to restart box thru image freezes any memory issues with plugins running and such like
cheers tebaa -

HAHA, it's nothing more than a OEM version of the venton HD2 and not even as good as the new miracle box HD2 which is it self a OEM of the Venton HD2.

I would highly recommend the gigablue quad, I have three tuners in mine, 2 sat tuners and one dvb-t tuner for the terrestrial stations. Very fast box. Never had any vu receivers so cant comment on them but never had any problems with the quad so far. But if you decide to go with the quad you might want to wait for the new quad plus, as far as I am aware the changes are only cosmetic, but you can decide.

cheers tebaai have 2 dvbs tuners m8, 1 dvbc tuner and its amazing.
-
and also you get no freezes m8 . so no restarting etc
-
ah but does it work with all images like the duo2? and that duo2 has loads of memory, gigabit lan port and so on. mind you that gigablue quad is due a replacement soon. and it has no scart socket
-
Think you missed the point mate, its nearly a 100 quid cheaper. If money is no issue... not much will beat the solo2.
