  • Hello guys,

    question: How much internet data per month will it take to have a dreambox running just for viewing?

    anyone have experience with this?

    thx

  • no way to say really , unless you want to monitor everyday for the next month & report back .
    cheers

  • Depends on encryption used etc! For example! S*YUK will use alot more data and bandwidth as it uses NDS encryption! The DCW keys change alot more often then say Nagra or Conax! Each time the key changes the dreambox has to recieve more data more often! Doing alot of channel hopping will also increase your download amounts!

  • n$s cards receive an ecm every 8 seconds. Each ecm is approximately 184 bytes which equates to 0.18kb . So if you worked on the principle of 24/7 viewing for 30 days : -

    60secondsx60minutesx24hoursx30days = 648,000 seconds in a 30 day period

    648,000 / ecm every 8 seconds = 81,000 ecm's in a 30 day period

    81,000 x 0.18kb = 14580kb

    14580kb = 113mbits

  • cheers newtolinux! did you use a calculator to work that out? lol! what i was meaning is that some encryptions require more data than others! so there is no way we can give a fixed amount or even an approxamation on monthly data usage!

  • nds encrytption which i gave example calculation for uses the most data per month
