  • Morning, trying to get CCcam 2.1.3 to run now on ubuntu, used a great step by step guide from youknowhoo and ran CCcam.x86 and it created process, but its CCcam 2.1.1, I need 2.1.3.

I copied the 2.1.3 bin file across and chmod 755 that and place it in usr/local/bin and ran that but it looks like it started but when I do a ps -aux no process has started.

Any ideas why this might be?

  • 1st was the original bin file for cccam in usr/local/bin ??

2nd are you stopping/starting from a cam script within ubuntu ?? If so then check the script for the cam name as you may have to update this accordingly to match your new filename . Alternatively rename your new cccam bin to match the filename of the old one.

    regards

  • I just copied the CCcam.x86 bin file into /usr/local/bin and chmod 755.

When I ran CCcam.x86 it ran and process was there.

It was 2.1.1 which I dont want, so I got the 2.1.3 bin file, it is the same CCcam.x86 and down the exact same thing but when I run it by typing CCcam.x86 it looks like it runs but there is no process created. Im not trying to run the CCcam.x86 from a script.

  • please type what you are using to start your cam from command line in ubuntu

  • ok if you are just typing that then there must be a startup script in /bin as a .sh file

  • Ok will check this, but why would it work for a 2.1.1 bin file and not for a 2.1.3 bin file?

What should I check for with this .sh script?

  • as if you have used auto install script on ubuntu like you said i am sure there is a start/stop script for cccam in /bin . this allows you to start or stop cam from any directory within telnet . In this script there is a variable like camname=2.1.1 or something . So you could try changing this to match your new one .

You can also start in ubuntu by going to your cam directory and just type ./xxxxx(whatever cam file name is) -b . This works on debian so should work i guess with ubu

  • Ok thats great will try all of this.

I didnt run any CCcam install script, ubuntu was preinstalled on server. I just made the required directories in var/etc and copid CCcam.x86 into usr/local/bin.

Not sure where the scirpt you say has come from.

  • Have done that lads and this is the output

    12:08:06.465 CCcam: ======================================================================
12:08:06.465 CCcam: starting CCcam 2.1.3 compiled on Nov 14 2009@00:48:18

    12:08:06.466 CCcam: create 1 cam device(s)

    Still no process created?

  • ok start cccam in debug mode from telnet . be something like CCcam -dv replace the cccam bit with your filename . Then you can see if cccam is failing to start at what point etc
