A short guide detailing how you can check if your OpenBox satellite receiver (S9 HD & S10 HD) are clone or genuine.

How to identify clone Ali3602 HD Receiver all consumers :
If you have an Ali3602 HD Receiver like S9,S10…there has a method to identify if it is original (quality goods) or clone.

Before identify , please backup your old software on the box by usb. Download , upgrade it by usb.
enter menu—tool—information—press “8888″ key, now you will see CHIP ID , If the box CHIP ID is in the chip_id_list, congratulatation, your HD Receiver is original version! You can upgrade any new firmware to experience more new functions. Otherwise, You Box is clone version , please recover the software with the old version! This software will kill the clone box when power on over 10 times. If less than 10 times, no kill for clone verion.
the chip_id_list is the following, it will update everyday:
    00D0
    00EA
    085B
    0D0C
    98A1
    98F2
    9CF4
    9D1A
When you buy a new box , try to view the chip_id_list on this http page. If you can not find the valid “CHIP ID” on the chip_id_list, it means your box is a clone box.

To check if your OpenBox S9 is an original or clone, just follow the instructions below:
This is the correct procedure to identify if your OpenBox S9 is an original or clone.

Before you continue, make sure there is no smartcard inserted in the receivers card slot.
Here is an example of the CCID 0100: 98A1 the CCID is 98A1 which means the receiver is a genuine OpenBox S9
The first part [0100] is the CAID which can be ignored, it only displays that as your also in the same section for accessing the smartcard info, and without a smartcad inserted, the default will be 0100

    Instructions:
    Goto Menu -> Tools -> Information now press 7 7 7 7 7 7 on the remote. [certain firmware may require you to press 8 8 8 8]
If the CCID is one of the following "00d0/00ea/085b/0d0c/98a1/98f2/9cf4/9d1a“ congratulatation,
your HD Receiver is original!! so you may upgrade any new firmware to experience more new functions.

If your STB`s CCID is not one of the above.
Please do not upgrade any new firmware, otherwise your HD receivers will be killed!!

  • actually I think I have figured it out! Pressing 7 7 7 7 7 gives me "0202" But pressing 8 8 8 8 gives me "chip ID: 00EA" Good news then I imagine ? :)

  • Just thought I would add to this post as There is also another chip id to add to this list.

If you can not find the valid "CHIP ID" on the chip_id_list, it means your box is a clone box or a new chip ID has been added and you need to check for an update.

  • Can I just say thanks for this very helpful post. I was able to find out that my box is not a clone. I'm now going to look up about cloned boxes. Thanks.
