Viasat 093E trouble, unable to get the card/reader running on a debian server

    I have got this Viasat 093E Norwegian card that I have used successfully in a VU Uno for the last 18months. But my attempt to use the card in a debian card server running Oscam haven’t cleared a program yet.
    I got the server up and running and are able to get the entitlements for the card,but I keep getting the same error message on every client login; “rejected group (0 ms) (no matching reader)”
    I know the boxid for the card is correct ( It still works in my Vu Uno when the frustration takes over and the family wants their TV back) . See if you can find any errors in my setup.

    Smargo i assume you are using which i,m not keen on, use an ftdi or omnikey external reader if you have one.


    For a start your device looks all wrong mate but you should be able to scan usb in oscam and see what it tells you,,,edit your server and user account configs to something like this below and try again.


    Also ask an admin or mod to edit your newcamd port out for you.

    I had same problem with my card change:


    caid = 093E to 090F
    ident = 093E:000000 to 090F:000000

    Edited once, last by vusolo ().

    I have just tested your settings, and they didn’t make any difference. The setting for Bus and Serial under device have had an extra 0 added,
    and Oscam recognises my smargo reader.
    I am not able to get the desired clockspeed set to 357, because oscam always changes my setting to 369 during startup.
    I removed the Autosped in Reader settings and got the card Mhz setting down to 369, and that is as close as it gets.

    Hi If you use smargo reader i think you had to use somting like that: /dev/ttyUSB0
    Do you see the reader if you type" dmesg " or " lsusb " ??

    Yes so your caid is 093e and it works in your receiver but that is an internal reader.


    Smargo readers are notoriously problematic from what i have read over the years so i would recommend either an ftdi pheonix or an omnikey reader for your card,smargo readers also can cause problems if the wrong firmware is on them and i believe there is clone smargos.


    If you only have a smargo then as stated above try (mouse) protocol and /dev/ttyUSB0 for your device name and try again.

    Looks like I am in the market for a new reader...
    Have just tested mouse protocol and that didn’t do it either.

    I will have another look at your configs later as i have to head out for a bit but i would look into what firmware is on your smargo and what type it is and also if it requires updating or a better version maybe.


    I am only recommending a better reader but you might get it going with what you have.

    Had the same problem as those listed in your log, when I switched to a Raspi just for fun.


    Changed to a Smargo Smart Reader v.1.4 so it works . Setup is as yours.

    Yagss, just remember, I had to save, reboot and check if the changes were saved before I could anything.
    It is in fact Oscam not "remember" the changes if they are made from the web, I found out.
