I have a iphone 3GS with no original sim card and i need to unlock what can i do and can it be done have connected it to i tunes but just says no sim card please insert sim card so cant see what firmware its running ?

Jailbreak it and then open it up with ultrasn0w via Cydia.

Its jailbroken now to greenpoison rc6, jailbreak complete but still have no sim can i try any sim in it now or not ?

Open Cydia and search for and download ultrasn0w, then you can use any sim :)

I cant see cydia just have screen with homepage sating no sim please insert then on same screen has lead to itunes on it do you know what i mean

if you know what sim the iphone is locked to! for example vodaphone! put an old vodaphone sim in and boot the phone! you will be able to access Cydia then!

I was told it was o2 but i only have old vodafone sim ?

Where are you, do you know anyone local that has an O2 sim

Hi Mate i tried link, when i go to download says that link no longer exists ?
I have been having a look around and apparently some say that jailbreak will do it if so which one as i tried greenpoison 6 and nothing, then was told that can be done but would cost £40 and would take 4 days lol, then have been told that some unlocks beware as some are temporary and and not full recovery, also told any old sim no good for iphone has to be one for an iphone ? I`m stuck dont know what to do next , please help anyone ?

Sorry mate don't know what else to suggest, apart from searching web or asking on one of the jailbreak sites
xNews is a good one.
My kids have got 3gs but with O2 sims and I'm in Wales if u want u could send it here and I'll have a go {no guarantee mind} but then you will be at square 1 if you need to restore again.
So perhaps a commercial unlocker is you only option.

I think you can order a O2 pay as u go sim for free of their web site should be ok to get past the activate problem.
