Apologies if this has been covered elsewhere, but I'd like to be able to create my own 'image' as such of my current Solo2 configuration. I don't want to utilise the built in backup config just generate my own files that can be used as provided by other users here, on a pendrive to flash and install. Can I achieve this with a live install or do I have deconstruct the base Blackhole image and customise manually? Just need a point in the right direction!

if you mean copy the image you have now on solo, just use backup manager set path to usb stick if thats where you want to store it

You should make it a common practice to regularly backup your image...
Make a full image backup and the other a "personal backup" which includes all your own settings,plugins ,channel lists, etc.. -
