TS media 4.9 will not update !

hi all ive been using version 4.9 of TS for some time with no issues, 1 channel stopped working last week so decided to update ,tried several times to no avail.
if i try and update from within the ts media on the green update button it goes through the motions and asks for a restart then when i open ts its still 4.9 !!
tried downloading various versions , tried 5 first that loaded from a memory stick ok but when i open it and click on movies or anything its a black tv display just nothing !
tried installing the latest 7.5 from a stick also but that will not load.
i am using a solo 2 vix 3.0 808.
any advice ?
i have restored my image back to 4.9 for now.
oh forgot to also ask when i go to plugins for the last 2 days of trying it says feeds down for maintenance !
