  • Hi all,

First post here, apologies if this is in the wrong section.
I am planning to purchase the Vu duo2 with 2 DVB-S2 Tuners at the back. It will be installed in a house where there is already a cable running from the ceiling to the living room. However I’d like to purchase a dish with 2 LNBs for 2 different satellites: Astra 19.2 & 28.2 (French and UK TV). What I want to accomplish is being able to watch one channel and record at least another (whichever channel feed, French or UK). From my understanding the vu duo2 can record up to 16 channels…
For my setup would I need to have 3 more cables running from the ceiling to the living room (on top of the existing one)? Or just one other cable would allow me to record one channel and watch and record another one at the same time.
Sorry if it seems to be a silly question I am a bit confuse.

    Thanks,

  • if you want 28e and 19 e you need 2 cables in the house 1 cable to each tuner then at the dish have a 2 2 port diseqc switch and 2 twn lnb's and a cable from 19e and 28e lnb to each switch the switch will then give you 19e and 28e on each tuner after you set the tuners up, this will allow you to watch 28e and record 19e and the other way round also ,and allow 2 chns form 19e or 2 chns from 28e , it you want better add 2 tuners and 2 cables more and 2 x quad lnbs im sure the first option will be sufficient

  • hi 1st of all you dont say if existing cable is connected to anything ..the vu duo will need 2 feeds into it ! say 28.2 ..1 to record and 1 to watch any other chanel[ twin tuner !!] from the same lnb ...!! the other lnb 19.2 would probably need to go to a seperate box to watch any french chanells ..so by the look of it you may need 2 boxes ,,,and setup on the dish will need 2 lnb .s ,,both with 2 feeds to seperate boxes to achieve this ,,,i may be wrong ...and if i am some one willput me right ,,,but good luck on your setup ...

  • Thanks very much for your replies. I am guessing that the stacker/ de stacker won’t allow to record and watch at the same time different channels? Or will it work with the configuration mentioned by Stevejo (2 2 port diseqc switch then connected the 2 outputs connected to the stacker/ destacker)?

jon: I think this box can handle the French channels by using a TNTSat card or Frenchsat

  • Do exactly as stevejo has described.
Although you will have 2 cables running you will lose very little power with direct connections( apart from the discq switches)
Whereas any other setup would lose a few dbs along the way...this won´t affect the 2 sats you are after as they have very strong beams..
Size of dish would be at least 80cms(real)
