In the Beginning VU+ Duo arrived in a box.

    My nephew in his wisdom says "Uncle buy this VU+ Duo, you will love it"


    You see I am a PC guy and I thought this would be like setting up Windows or OS 10.


    Can someone please help me build a full installation guide for total newbies like me, a proper step by step.


    I will even pay 100.00 to the person who helps me build this guide as long as I have a fully functioning system with my ESPN etc.


    I have been in this place before in 1990s with novell


    Basically I am looking for a idiots guide that I can post online so now one else spends a week trying to set this up.

    There is no need to pay anyone mate all the info you need is already here as a set of mini guides or to start with you could flash one of the ready made backups here and be up & running in no time.Look here

    Here is how to flash the image


    Step by step tutorial on how to flash your VU+ Duo receiver with a USB stick.


    Using this there is very little setup required, if you get stuck along the way just ask, we are here to help.

    You've done the hardest bit... You've found this forum! I'm a complete novice to the linux receiver scene. there's a lot of info here, and it's good to be able to discuss the nitty gritty... cccam etc. discussing CS on other sites upsets the Mods.


    Just wish I had come across this forum 2 weeks earlier!

    I have gone through the 3 pages and looked for a step by step guide.


    I write manuals for ecommerce, so I start of with.


    Goto xyz.com/download - Download the file to you local pc - Unzip the file (you may need a program like winrar to extract the file.


    Next ftp the file to your server. you can download a free ftp program from filezilla


    I really dont have a clue about the box, I have the mfr book but nothing to tell me how I switch on and start from the beginning up to the point where I am watching my sat channels.


    I feel that sometimes techies assume people are linux savvy, we are not:16_002::16_002:


    I dont know how to ftp onto this box, or run a file. Hope this explaines my post. I hate people not reading posts and just asking questions. So I made sure I searched first before starting this.

    Here are two $ky uk ready images that have all essential cams and plugins you need to get started.


    sly uk ready blackhole 1.6.3 backup
    sly uk ready ViX Team v2.2.100 Vu+DUO backup


    Download the image and extract HERE with Winrar.


    You will see a directory named vuplus.


    Format a USB pen drive to FAT32 then copy and paste the vuplus directory onto it.


    Power off the Vu+ with the switch at the back and insert the USB pen drive into the front USB slot.


    Power back on from the switch at the back and the image will start flashing, you will see information on the LED when the flash is succesful.


    After it has been flashed remove the USB pen drive and power off then on with the switch at the back.


    The new image will start loading and the setup wizard will run through some basic steps for network, display, dish settings etc.


    Put your card in the top slot, chip side down and start CCcam from the softcam manager.



    Worked perfectly. You guys are fantastic. One question. I have inserted my S card and my programs are there, I cancelled my subscription 2 weeks ago, will it stop working in 2 weeks time after cancellation period. Just wat to know this for educational purposes.

    One last thing, my ES%N sports don't work with box, but works in my s%yH% box OK.


    Is this the norm, card is in top slot face down.

    I tried to find this file by browing the network but I cant see the box. People keep saying ftp but if you cant see the box how can you edit files of ftp to them.


    Mind numbing stuff, can you guide me in the right path.


    I installed the S@Y skin using the usb method and it works fine
