  • New member:looking for router/modem settings to get best performance out of my receiver, have looked around site and cant seem to find any threads on this.apologies if i have missed a thread somewhere.i understand their are many brands and types of router modems.but a general settings for receivers would be great.

  • There arent any settings that will make any odds as a client to be honest so if someone is telling you this as being your issue they are telling you porkies as long as you have a half decent internet connection your fine , you will need to be more specific as to the issue you are having

  • Is it settings for port forwarding that you are looking for???? not really sure what it is your looking for buddy to be honest....

What router do you have? which receiver? unless your going to be running a server from your receiver then just connect it either by an Ethernet lead or wireless connection and let the router should do the rest.....

  • been having glitch issues for a while.have 8meg dl and 1meg up.with tesco bb now as moved but had same issue with bt before.so have ditched technicolor 582n isp eqt.and now running dlink modem and dlink dir850il router but still same issues.box is blade 7000s running 122p firmware.have got Cat 6 cable coming tommorow as a precaution.box is nearly 3 years old.

  • If your still getting glitching etc after having moved broadband provider then I very much doubt it's to do with your router...... and can't see what difference a cat6 cable will make....

I take it your connected to a server to receive the premium channels???

Sorry Mckee im all over your toes here ill bail out this one

  • As i read site rules when i joined i understand i have to be careful.not been a tech on sat but a logical person i was changing modem/router and cabling to determine if it is my end that has issues.as its a new router i thought that a setting adjustment might help to give the box a direct link through router without firewall etc.

  • I'm going to be honest with you buddy.... I think your using a payserver.... and if your not then I apologize.

But the problems your posting have all the traits of what happens when you do use a payserver...... it's the road to nowhere. Have a good read of the forum in particular the card sharing section.... put your hard earned cash into buying a card to share....
