  • Hi all,

I'm looking to upgrade after my old tm 500 super went bust last week.

I don't really know much about satellite receivers, I only got the last one because someone installed it a few years ago. But I want to learn as much as I can and I hope you guys can help.

I have about £150 to spend - maybe more of there is something decent just outside my price range. It can be new or second hand, i don't care.

Hope you can help me learn all I need to know!
    Dan

  • Thanks codar!

Could you let me know what to look for when picking a satellite receiver? I don't really know much at all.

Is that the best satellite around for this money or is there a better one for a bit more?

  • Opinions differ but I would go for a mips based receiver.
Enigma2 was designed for this type of receiver.
Obviously more memory, speed , tuners etc = more money
I suppose you have to decide exactly what you want from it, record one channel while watch another, if you want to run a card in it and use it as a server, Internal or external hdd.
    Vu are good build quality.
Mut@nt are the new kid doing exciting things.
There is a lot to choose from really.
Have a look on the sponsors website and anything you don't understand, just ask.
