The bootloader you need is here => duo cfe Rev 3.0
Did you try to install one of the latest images ? Which image and version were you using before ?

cant see that sticker mate, i do see a sticker with serial number on mate

Flash the bootloader first, you only need to do this once. Now try flashing the image. Make sure you don`t have any other USB devices attached when trying to flash the image..
Try flashing with a different USB stick..
If this doesn`t work try flashing an old image as you may have a clone. Which would be why the duo is stuck on starting, as the latest images don`t work on clones..

thanks mate, I have added old image and its still the same ?
-
On the front panel does it go through the motions reading usb > flashing > done etc ? Or just stuck on starting ?
Did you try flashing the older image with a different usb stick ?
Are you sure you don`t have a cloned receiver ?

Just in case its not a clone try this:
unplug the box from the mains.
unplug any usb sticks, hdd connected..
download the image again. reformat the usb stick,
go through the motions of flashing again..
reason I mention this is my UNO sometimes suffers the same symptoms so I follow that procedure. -
just another thing to try, I know of someone with a similar problem with a duo. I recommended the usual 'fixes' same as those mentioned, he was getting as far as 'starting' on display but that was it, he tried flashing BH 1.7.2 amd the box revived. Why I don't know, the images use less memory than the newer 2.x.x versions.
But if it's going back under stairs it might be worth a try
