Hi, i,m presuming i can swap the oringinal power supply for a 12v uk transformer instead of the 2 pronger and adaptor

I would say thats fine m8 as long as its 1.5A and DC center pin positive , I havean f5s power supply on mine its 2.0 amp

I do the same as stevejo, using F5s psu @ 2 amps works a treat.
