Setup help and info.

Hi everyone

Complete newbie here looking for some setup information.

I'm interested in setting up a system for me and up to 10 mates to use but have absolutely no idea where to start.

There's so much information on the site my head hurts trawling through it.

What would be a standard stable set up for what will essentially be a private viewing group?

Probably looking to all use the same make/model of box to view with a budget of anything up to around £200.

HD and record facility is a must.

Would greatly appreciate input from more experienced posters.

You'll need to decide on how many tuners you or your mates require as most if not all can record.
Single tuners record what you watch and anything on the same transponder (dvb-s/s2).
Dual/multi dvb-s/s2 tuner receivers can record anything channel on satellite while you watch a different satellite channel (fixed dish, motorised setup is a bit more complicated).
Also worth considering is weather you'd like to receive terestrial/cable with these receivers as that's a different type of tuner (dvb-t/t2/c tuner)

Can you do anything with cable receivers these days?

Used to do a few Dboxs back in the day but thought n3 had put a stop to cable box's.

Are you saying you can't get HD channels through a shared card?
