You can feed another satellite receiver off it (say in a bedroom) but only if the first satellite receiver is in standby. If the first receiver is not in standby the second receiver will only get around a quarter of the channels as the first one controls the LNB.
Its basically a splitter for another tuner or second stb. On dvb/c feeds all channels will be available but on dvb/s only free transponders will be available. (the ones not been used by that tuner)...........hope that makes sense.
Not really, loop out means that the satellite feed is looped through the receiver when the receiver is not in use thus allowing you to use the feed from the loop through output to another receiver or tv with built in stellite tuner (saves you running another feed to the dish)
It is rarely used to be honest as the receiver/tv connected to the loop out on the main/master receiver can only be used if the main/master receiver is off/in standby.
You'll always need a receiver/tv (with satellite tuner) on the other end of the loop out unless the loop out is on a terestrial tuner in which case, your upstairs tv will then tune in the terestrial channels.
Hope this makes sense.
All answering at the same time:laugh:

so can I do the following?
take my old skybox upstairs and using the rf cable that I used to use as magic eye (rf cable runs into bedroom) and run a feed to skybox upstairs as lonf as box downstairs if on standby?
obviously I cannot turn over channel, but is there some way of doing this with say with this?

thanks
The skybox upstairs will be fully functioning (changing channels etc) as long as the receiver with the loop out is in standby/off.
