  • Hi im interested in buying a triple satellite tuner to get enigma 2, irish saorview and uk satellite channels was looking at world vision force 1+ and edision optimuss o3+ and amiko alien 2. Are any of these any good or is there any others you would recommend?

  • im biased and would say the alien2, but you have to look at what you can afford the start there

but i have the a2 running sat and cable and have no problems on HDMU (its not for the faint hearted) but is well built for the price, picture is next to none on sd and hd and cheap about £120 for a triple, but like i said if you have more to you budget go for something else

  • The world vision force 1 and edision have both got 1.3mhz processors and 256mb nand do you know if this makes any difference when using enigma or when buffering?

  • The things to consider when buying any reciever is as follows

    1/--Price (your own personell budget)
2/--Support (this means will there be continued support for the future ) recievers bought from the FORUM SPONSOR will be supported
3/--Your own requirements (this means do you want a single dual or triple tuner) youve already explained this
4/--Processor speed and memory (very important when zapping and loading lots of plugins bigger the better
5/--Internal or External HDD again comes under your own requirements
6/--How easy it is to Flash (READ READ AND READ SOME MORE this is sound advice to eliminate the chance of things going wrong during flash)
7/--What other users think of the box READ REVIEWS AND GO TO YOUTUBE most boxes are there to watch in action

Everyone has a personell choice but read what other lads say of there boxes here and you will get a good idea of performance

Helping others is always a better feeling than helping yourself

I like the Alien 2 as well ,I'm using one as my main receiver and I cant really fault it.
Great sd picture on it too as pauldb mentions ,very noticeable on a large set.
The only grumble I'd have is that I'd prefer an internal hard drive for recording .

Another option is the Xpeed LX2 currently on offer at a great price.
Whilst its a twin tuner it supports a cheap usb terrestrial tuner so it can become a triple tuner easily too.
Very good support for it and as its been on the market a few years the images are very stable.
It has a 700Mhz Cpu ,512MB of Ram and 512MB of Flash.

I wouldnt recommend the World vision force 1+ as it has very limited support and I know a few people with Edision Optimuss o3+'s and they say the software is still buggy
I considered upgrading to one from the Alien 2 but was advised not to by someone who has both receivers.

The Nano 3T is another option ,exact much same spec as the World Vision force1+ and the Edision but better support.
They are all around the same price.

The Gigablue Quad is also a contender ,it has excellent support .
The Vu+ Solo 2 can also support a usb terrestrial tuner so it can be used as a triple tuner .

Finally there's the ZGemma Star which is a budget twin tuner but can support a usb terrestrial tuner .

Then theres the Xtrend receivers ,the Mutants etc at the higher end .

Lots of options for different budgets.

  • Useful thread, I had the same question as the OP. Which image is most stable (with decent features) on the Amiko 2? I won't be running too many plug-ins.
