After doing a recovery on the Wetek play I had lost all settings
on kodi/ xbmc but on OpenElec all is still there including all the
mistakes I'd made lol,how do I wipe that side of things.I have
powered the box while holding the switch on the bottom but
made no difference. Thanks in advance.

wipe the Sdcard and burn the Openelec back to it via win32 disc

I personally have my Openelec running on nand as i find it easier to operate than wetek theater using VDR :)

I think you might mean Kodi 15 RC1.
OpenELEC (which incorporates Kodi) is still on 6.0 Beta 2 -
