I am sure rocco69er will be able to advise best here but from what i have heard its the model of TV that really makes the difference here.
-
Most if not all HD recievers work with 3d, for example I know for definate the vu and spiderbox's work fine.
They have to be 3d because the signal is sent via hdmi.

both ten below and shamonemf are correct, the tv being 3d compatible is the important part of this combination and obviously whoever supplies your viewing being subscribed to the 3d package.believe its an extra tenner a month.

lol...without taking the piss I'd assume the OP knows he needs a 3D TV to receive 3D content :waaaht:
3D works well on my Vu+ but its not cheap unfortunately...

There is a couple of fta 3d test/channels around try these out.
On a non 3d tv or a 3d tv with the option turned off you should see the screen split down the centre with an almost copy of each pictures side by side.
-
lol your correct mate, just red it again and it should be quite obvious.:ah:

also worth noting on 3d tv is the quality of 3d m8, as some cheaper end tv's supply glasses like the ones in cinema's and better tv's supply glasses that have batteries in them, normally if sub to $ly and have the full HD package tou get 3d as part of it ;)
-
Correct Mutz, I just got 3d activated on my package for free, cos I have movies and sport, getting 50" panny on Tuesday , Lion King in 3D !!!! Oh yes and Hustler :-) So if you share with me you will get S** 3D too .

Not sure I'd agree there mutz...passive 3D TV's are actually newer technology than active sets...Generally passive sets are much more expensive as the technology is built into the set and you can have the flexibility of the cheaper glasses....active sets are that bit cheaper because of the need for expensive glasses...in the next few years I'd say you'll see active sets disappear from the market!
Which you prefer is of course down to your personal choice but most people who have used my active glasses don't really like the feeling lol

Hiya
Can you confirm if VU+ Solo is capable of 3D aswell
I am thinking of purchasing this box
thanks
-
All Vu+ receivers have 3D capability, works great on my Vu+DUO with 46inch Samsung 3D LCD TV.
-
thanks to all who replied to this thread, very helpful info

LG 42LW650T 42" Full HD LED 3D TV buy online | Currys
good buy at that price and uses passive glasses 8 pairs enough for whole family
-
active is the best because it does matter were u sit in the room picture sort of bend towards u, theres ir signal that comes from the tv to the glass. the panasonic vt30 model pdp panel plasma is flicker free non like the lcd. i just brought vu+ duo the 3d works well!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Yep I'm going to use my vu to view 3d on my projector if santa brings me the extra bit of kit I need.
-
now of course you get 400hz active screens. this really does help with the sharpness of a 3d image especially on a moving image. dont go for plasma as the picture brightness is still too dim.

ive just got meself this

An update for me, got the extra box that was needed, it came with a pair of glasses and I also bought 1 more.
It works perfect, 98" 3d tv through the vu solo.
