If you have the latest patch loaded, and you want to add a CCcam or newcamd server to your spiderbox..

In the Accessories menu, select Network
the third entry down in the first column is "Server" select "Server Setup" to the right of that field.
You will see a column with "01.Off" to "08.Off"

Select the field next to 01.Off.

Type gives you the option of CCCAM or NEWCAMD
The entried are almost identical for these setups

    Selecting CCCAM
You must have a C-Line given to you by a friend with a server, or one you have created yourself if you have your own server.

If you have a line like
    C: friend.dyndns.org 12000 user password
it may have other parameters beyond password, ignore them
    or
    C: friend.no-ip.tv 13000 user password { 0:0:2 } etc..

Enter the name "friend.dyndns.org" or "friend.no-ip.tv" into the "Name or IP Address" field. with your remote control

Enter 12000 or 13000 etc. (it can have whatever value the server owner sets) into the "Port" field

    ID and Password are obvious.

For Newcamd, you must have been given an N-Line which looks like this

    N: friend,dyndns.org 11000 user password 01 02 03 04 05 06 07 08 09 10 11 12 13 14

The only difference is that it starts with an "N" which is discarded for our purposes, and the string of numbers 01 - 14 (in this case) which is the DES Key.

enter the sequence given to you by your friend in the DES Key field without spaces.
The example above would look like this
    0102030405060708091011121314

To save your CCCAM or NEWCAMD lines, select "Apply" at the bottom of each screen.

A small guide to scanning for & viewing feeds on the SpiderBox HD...

    BlindScanning on SpiderBox HD:
BlindScanning is easily done via: Menu-Satellite Search, enter pin at the prompt & scroll to 'Search Option', then using left/right buttons on remote highlight 'Blind Scan' scroll to 'Start Search' which will bring up a menu to select your parameters (i.e: Freq start/end-drive Step-Pol)...

The parameters for a blindscan are selectable to improve efficiency & save time, which makes these enhanced options a must have for the feedhunt enthusiast & can help improve the knowledge of the keen feedhunting learners for increased knowledge of regular sat feeds & where to find them...
Aswell as being able to scan all the Ku-band frequencies of a whole sat (10.700-12.750), frequency start & end parameters can also be selected to scan certain parts of a sat, which are not pre-determined or defaulted...Any start/end parameter can be manually entered to scan any part of the frequency band between the minimum & maximum to target or scan specific areas of the band...

Drive Step is also variable which allows scanning to be done in 2, 4, 6, 8 or 10MHz steps, which again allows for a choice of scanning for feedhunting...
When 10MHz scanning is selected the tuner will scan the part of the band selected in 10MHz steps & provides the quickest but a less thorough scan...Scanning in 2MHz steps obviously takes the longest of the scanning times to perform, but is the most efficient of the scans as it is searching in smaller steps/freq's so is likely to & has a greater chance of picking up everything that may be broadcasting at that specific time...
Personally i find 4MHz steps is a reasonable & a very thorough scan & scanning a portion of a sat around .400 apart is no more than 5 or so mins to complete from start to finish...

Polarization options are selectable with Vertical-13V, Horizontal-18V & ALL the available options, which allows you to select to scan vertical freq's only, Horizontal freq's only or both...

The SpiderBox can find all feeds from all sats that transmit Ku-Band feeds & can view any of these feeds with the only exceptions being 4:2:2 transmissons (An AZBox is needed to view 4:2:2 transmissions) & encrypted feeds, which only a very chosen few have access to the priveleged codes to view this enc content...

    Viewing feeds on SpiderBox HD:
If you merely want to view feeds posted by others, the SpiderBox is very easy to use & all that is needed to view a sat feed is to manually add a new TP using the details provided with the reported feed...

    To add a new TP:
Menu-Satellite Search, enter pin at the prompt then press the 'red' button on remote to add a new TP, then scroll to 'Frequency' & enter the desired frequency using the number buttons on remote, then scroll to 'Symbol Rate' & enter the desired symbol rate, then scroll to 'Polarization' & select the desired Pol using the left/right buttons on remote, then finally scroll to 'Modulation' to select 1of the 3options available (DVB-S QPSK, DVB-S2 8PSK or DVB-S2 QPSK)...
Note: If broadcasting standard is not known, select each of the 3standards above until a signal is obtained on the signal/quality level meters shown at the bottom of the screen is displayed...
Once all details are correct & a signal is showing (Signal meter level will appear in green - Quality meter level in blue), scroll to 'Start Search' & press 'OK' button on remote for the new TP to be scanned...
Once scan is complete it will reveal anything found & you can then exit the menu's to return to the last viewed channel...(Anything new found will appear at the end of your channel list for you to select & view)

How To enable your Spiderbox as a Newcamd server:

Go to Menu - Accessory - Network

If you don't see the words DARKMANIA V2 in the very bottom right of your screen, stop. You don't have the latest patch installed.

Select Network - NEWCAMD Server Setup

"Type" should be set to "on"
You can select the port you wish to use. If you don't know, leave the default 03567

    Go to User Setup

Select one of the 10 client lines
    Turn it on.
Enter a User Name and a Password.
    Then Apply

At this stage you will also need to have your dyndns or no-ip account set up
    let's say it's for example :

    spiderbox.dyndns.ws

You give your friends / people you wish to share with this information to enter into their spiderboxes, dreamboxes, azboxes or some other compatible box

    N: spiderbox.dyndns.ws 03567 User Pass 01 02 03 04 05 06 07 08 09 10 11 12 13 14

all those numbers refer to a key called the des key.

For convenience and to avoid any confusion. the des key should be left as the default ( you can't edit it anyway )

Remember you will have to port forward your chosen port ie 03567

One other point worth mentioning is with the Newcamd Server function you only can share whats in your smartcard slot nothing else.

Note: The HDD must be formatted in FAT32.

There are several freeware programs available which can do this on your PC, but the easiest way to do it is with the Spiderbox itself.

With the HDD connected to the box, press the Menu button, go to the 'USB' option.

Press the Yellow key on the remote <Format>

When the operation is completed your HDD is ready to use.

Exit the USB menu and go to PVR menu.

Here you can set the maximum recording time and turn off/on the Timeshift facilty. (It is better to leave this on).

To record to the HDD simply press the Record button on the remote. (you will see 'rEC' displayed on the Spiderbox. To end recording press the Stop button on the remote.

To review the recording press the Play button on the remote. A list of all your recordings will appear. Simlpy choose the recording that you want to watch and select it using the OK button.

You can (pause), (ff>>), (rw<<), at up to 8X speed, or skip to any position in the recording (indicated by the blue bar) by using the (< )or (>) keys either side of the (OK ) button. To return to live tv press the Stop button

You can record using the EPG (where available) by pressing the green button and the selecting the channel you want to record. Press the <OK> button. When the program begins, recording will start automatically and will stop when the program ends.

If you want to Timeshift (this can also be done when a recording is in progress), simply press the <pause> button. To resume watching press the Play button. You can navigate using the same keys as for reviewing a recording (as above).

You can Timer record using the Timer option in the menu.
Select the Timer Index (up to seven recordings can be scheduled).
    Set Active to 'Recording'.
Set channel, Start Time and Duration and then exit.

The Spiderbox will switch to the scheduled program ( switching/moving to the correct satellite first if necessary) and then execute the recording.

For further options consult your Spiderbox User's Manual.

Cheers Caz, i'll have a look at it too.
Let us know how you get on.

adding sid assign will make a huge difference to ecm, for dm500 this is what you are looking for

    SMARTCARD SID ASSIGN : /dev/sci0 xx { sid1, sid2, .....sid43, }

Use dreambox edit or simillar to find the sids you need or make a bouquet containing the channels that will open and use auto assign as per the tut.
Once you have sids for available channels count them and change xx to the number of sids in your list

You will notice a big difference in ecm handled right away, here is a sid assign list for MTV conax card from last year, the sids may have changed and new channels have been added.
    MTV Unlimited Conax

    SMARTCARD SID ASSIGN : /dev/sci0 6 { 6FF3, 6FEE, 6FEF, 6FF1, 6FF0, 6FFF }

I watched chealse v wolves today on SS1 germany with Eng commentary, yet last weekend Sky Germany had no Eng commentary, hit or miss at the moment.
Just enjoy it, c/s is like every other sat hack before it,it will end one day.Enjoy it while you can.

I was thinking my dish might have moved, but I think I'll leave it for now and see what happens.
It's odd that I got Tring last week but not now, but get all other sats.

    Roll on January lol

Just go in rotor setup and adjust the position until you get signal on the tp you need, you will only need a very small nude to get the tring channels again.

Thers are currently 3 sats at 15.8/16e, all are old, damaged and on their last legs. In 5 days time a new sat will be launched to replace them, expected to be operational in January and will make a huge difference to 16E reception.
