It's well known that i am a supporter of original receivers and the development they bring to the hobby, Unlike the clone manufacturers who take all the profits without putting a penny back into the development side of things. now as far as loop through goes well i can take it or leave it be honest as it's not a feature i use. The internal loopthrough feature of the Duo is more than enough for my needs, for other receivers i have 3 dishes with a total of 14 feeds.

The old saying "you buy cheap you buy twice" springs to mind especially when you look at the ever increasing numbers of people reporting blown PSU's on the Vu clones. Personally i say the best receivers on the market are the Vu receivers ( the real ones not the clones ), and with the £ so strong at the moment you can get a really good deal from say Germany for a Duo around £260 ish.

depending on the image you use there is already a password changing application in the feeds so no need to install TS-panel just for that.

for example in ViX Menu> Plugins> green button ( download plugins )> systemplugins> setpasswd> ok > yes to install.
now when installed you will find the plugin in menu> setup> system> change root password.

personally i would be asking why your user name is not root ? as you can not change the root username but you can create other user accounts if you know what your doing.
did you buy the box this way new or was it setup for you prior to buying as i would be very concerned about who can access this box and why.

You can of course use the TS-panel but i find the level of quality control in the TS-panel very lacking which can and does cause all kinds of problems for some people.

depending on the image used you may have a OSD option to finetune the on screen display.

For the most part there just daily builds automatically compiled at the end of each day, the same as Pli and DMM do, however there are times when you will see specific changelogs that list what has been updated or changed in that particular build.

it will flash just fine just wont boot is all, then you just flash the correct image / bootloader over the top and all will be fine.

you do need to load the newest bootloader which is v3.0 if you want to use any of the images produced this year but thats the exact same procedure to flash as a image and takes only a few seconds.

Its the exact same procedure to flash any image.

power down the receiver from the rear rocker swich
Format a USB pen / stick to FAT 32.
download the image of your choice and decompress the archive it is compressed in.
place the vuplus folder and it's contents onto the USB stick and insert into the receiver.
power on the receiver and watch / read the VFD screen which will tell you once the unit is flashed.
