Hello! This is the second time in two days that I get this message when I'm entering the forum (I have also checked the "remember me" check box). The first one was yesterday afternoon when I got the message that my pass was 2 days old, and expired. Why is that, is there somewhere some kind of setting that I'm missing? I am member of several forums for many years, I have not seen this message before...

    Thanks in advance!

It's a standard way of forcing users to maintain a certain level security by refreshing their passwords usually every 60 to 90 days. this system runs successfully on many forums i use regularly. I however like your self have had to change my own password twice in as many days so i presume there may be a fault with the VB plugin or hack as there known for this feature. Im sure the admins are aware and looking for a fix.

Try disabling the cam auto timer check or change the default time see if that makes a difference.

my reply as to the resources required was meant as a generalization and not meant to be taken as a literal shopping list to hacking these receivers. I am also well aware that with the correct tools a amateur could indeed make good strides into such a project however i find that unlikely to happen. as far as hacking the s.ky epg system well there's this little thing called CrossEPG you may have heard of it ? it takes it's OpenTV source directly from the same data / radio stream as the providers them selves do.

as for my own particular skill set i'm just one of those run of the mill numpties you were referring to and certainly not a person with the skills of say andyblac.

s.ky receivers have had ethernet ports for many many years in anticipation for the release of the anytime+ service which is now live.

as to your query no it is not possible to share a card on a official receiver unless the image is hacked sufficiently, which would be a monumentally expensive task. There is a patched firmware for one of the older Amstrad models which allowed users to use the record functions without a card inserted into the receiver but that project has not moved forward in at least 3 years or more.

There is also a so called Opens.ky project available to developers but even with this you would not likely see any advancement into the area your interested in.

obviously replacing the stared out parts with well you know what i mean.

To be totally honest your never going to see any thing like CS on a offitial receiver unless you have a secret lab somewhere and a few million £££'s hidden away. even then it would likely take a decade before you actually achieved something.

I think you will be hard pressed to source a replacement processor for this receiver as that's just not the type of replacement part thats readily available outside of the manufacturing environment. As you have stated the receiver it self is liquid damaged it may very well cost you more to repair the receiver than you paid for it in the first place and such a repair would not be covered under a warranty agreement.

The thing is you need people who can work with and adapt hardware drivers for these devices but those kinds of people are hard to come by in our hobby. we did have a guy in ViX going back to the old 1x series images who worked with the drivers for us but he did a runner when we moved over to the pli source.

The old black Viaccess 1 cams will not work with most modern E2 receivers i have tested around 40 C.A.M units on my receivers and the viaccess 1 cams never detected. you need a Viaccess red cam.

    version 8.6.4 ~ 11.9 MB ~ April 2nd 2012

    Update for:

    K-Lite Codec Pack 8.6.x (Mega/Full/Standard/Basic)
    K-Lite Codec Pack 6.1.x (64-bit)

    Changelog:

Updated Media Player Classic Home Cinema to version 1.6.2.4243
    Updated ffdshow to version 1.1.4415
Updated LAV Filters to version 0.50.1 build 2012-04-01
    Updated x264VFW to revision 2184

DO NOT use the update feature from within the DBUK image as this connects to the PLI servers and updates directly from there totally trashing the DBUK image in the process. Rossi is looking into either disabling this feature all together or launching his own update feeds from a dedicated DBUK server.

Phoenix, just to let you know I bit the bullet and upgraded bootloader to latest (nov2011) and loaded up ViX 2.3.
So far, things going well, once I get used to the menu structure and remote key changes - EGAMI seemed to be different in that respect.
After a few initial crashes (after loading my channel lists, but not having any tuners configured) all seems to be working okay.
EPG setup and working as before, recording not tested yet, oscam working and clearing tntsat card, need to read up more on timeshift.
Main thing I find different is that physical remote control keys actually map to the functions in the image.

yeah andy ( the creator of ViX ) has spent a massive amount of time mapping all of the buttons him self so that they do what there supposed to, it was andy who figured out how to get the qwerty keyboard on the Vu ultimo remote working as when it was shipped in beta tests that part of the remote did not function. ViX may not be to every ones liking but i honestly find it to be the most user friendly and well laid out image there is. and were constantly improving it so stay tuned for a new release ( cant give dates or ETA's but hopefully it wont be long ).
