Sorry, I didn't realise that it had to be kept on the open forum.

I'll take the Wetek. I'm OK with the delay in it being sent out.

I am looking for an Android box with a COMBO tuner installed ie both a Satellite and a terrestrial tuner fitted as standard.

Is there any out on the market? Which one would forum members recommend?

Thanks in advance for any replies.

    Thanks all for the replies.

Yes, BT Sports can be used to share..... The HD version is even better....

What box was your card in when you had the BT sports added to your card???

It was in a Pace 3100 box (which some may know is the only box that can be modified to record without paying the additional Sly subscription), although the box is SD only. Therefore I won't be able to get or share in HD.

It's going to be a while before I get the time to have another go at getting my head around this C/S lark, therefore I'm assuming that in the meantime it would be best if I kept my white card out of my Pace box to stop updates and pairings?

I’ve been reading up on CS over a few months now (well, when I have got time) and understand that the general principles of CS is give and take. What I was struggling to find is what would be a good subscription that I can share with others. Mostly I’ve seen comments along the lines of ‘get a good porn subscription’.

Then it suddenly occurred to me that I already a subscription as I get BT Sport “free” through my broadband provider. Therefore I have a few questions –

Can BT Sport be used to share with others?
I’ve only recently got it, therefore does it mean that the subscription is paired with my box?

Any other comments would be appreciated.

    (I’m currently using a Technomate TM-7100)

Thanks in advance for any replies.

from what i understand your bt customer your half way there m8 as bt customer you get bt sports free only you pay extra for hd if i remember right,if you can find old sly box you can get freesat sly card for one of payment of 25 pounds thats good start

BT Sport use the Sly database in order to set up BT customers to get BT Sport via the Sly platform, therefore if you get an old sly box and the card has to have been previously registered on the Sky database to your current address then your good to go. If the card isn't registered to you and at that address on the Sly d/b, then you will have to get a new sly card - directly from them - at a cost of £25.

Either way, a pretty cheap n easy way to get BT Sport or to get into the hobby.

I had a sneaking suspicion that only one cable ran the motor. I did mark each of the cables as to where they went in the house when I fitted the LNB, only trouble is the marks have now washed off :-(

    Yes, don't worry it's fun

I can see an episode on Panorama (on BBC Knowledge 13E obviously) on this; kids in the UK are turning to a new way to get their 'kicks' - licking motorised sat cables!

    Thanks all for your help.

Thanks all for the replies. Sometimes I just need double-check the most basic of things!

Which brings me on another basic question; I've fitted an octo LNB, am I right in thinking that all the cables (when connected to a receiver) should be able to move the motor or is it just one?

Not ideal but worked for me I did the tongue test on the cables to see which one power came from then I put that one in to see if the light cam on on the motor

When you say 'the tongue test', I presume you mean 'lick' the cable to see if you can feel an electric current?

    Hi all,

I installed a motorised satellite system together with new cabling as part of a house renovation. When I left it it was all working fine; the motor was turning both manually and through the receiver and I was picking up a number of birds.

Several months later, I gave it another another test run before fitting the cable faceplates and the motor isn't turning. I connected up the same receiver and I can see that there is no light on the motor (suggesting that there is no power to the motor?).

So i got the ladder out and pressed the manual left and right buttons on the motor, but the motor did not turn, therefore my question is should a motor turn when I press the manual buttons even thought there is no power to it?
Also does the skew of the LNB make any difference to whether a motor will turn or not?

Thanks in advance for any replies.

I started down the road you did about 12 months ago and have now got my satellite motorised and a tried a few different boxes before settling on building my own HTPC (although haven't quite got the server bit figured out), so it can be done, but does take allot of reading and fiddling about.

The general advice I would give is look at it as a hobby with a 'goal' of having a nicely set up AV system, rather than wanting to have a direct replacement for your current sub. I think that those that set out to 'have more channels' or 'watch more games' tend to be happier than those want to keep or gain specific channels or follow a particular team or sport.

Regarding a box, I would say that you already probably have one of the best boxes for a newbie, otherwise maybe try a non-linux Technomate box. Otherwise try a Dreambox or a VU; at least you will be able to easily sell them if you don't get on with them.

The general feedback that I got when I was starting out was go for good quality (is doesn't necessarily mean the highest price) and had numerous recommendations for T&K brackets, Webber cable, Inverto LNB and Technomate motor.

    Good luck!

Dish wise, I don't have a clue. Motorised, fixed, 90cm, 1.5 motors, who knows. Any suggestions welcome.

All good advice there from Codar.

There is quite a bit of Ice Hockey on Premier Sp*rts (formerly S*tanta Sports) and ES PN - although I don't know if it is North American hockey - therefore a fixed 60cm dish pointed to 28.2E might suit you just fine.
Otherwise have a look at liveonsat or a similar website and see which satellites regularly show hockey and then work out what size dish you need from there.
Generally speaking a fixed sat restricts you to a single sat only, a fixed sat with a multi-LNB holder gives you more options (although you might not be able to get two sat's which are close together) whilst motorised sat gives you more options as it has the potential to receive signals on the whole arc, although they can be difficult to install and set up.

Cant support this question here as it appears you are using payservers ,but look at the versions of cccam in use along with the image the box is running

I'm NOT using a payserver, but I suppose not currently adhereing to the 'principles' of cardsharing either. A mate is allowing me to access his subscription(s) and I'm not currently sharing back.
Although it is on the understanding when I'm up and running, I share back my subscription with him.

Which kinda brings me to why I asked the question - Hopefully you'll all understand that getting into this hobby is an awful lot to get your head around, therefore as both of us are pretty new to all of this, therefore we have used test lines from payservers to make sure that our set-ups are correct.

PS: Thanks all for the replies, I've got a better understanding of why some glitch and others don't now.

The title pretty much says it all, I'm trying to get my head around why if you use same line in one box / receiver it is rock solid and if you use the same line in another it is constantly glitching.
The case in point is that when I use my line in my Technomate TM-6902 it is constantly glitching (even in the more stable channels such as *** Sports). 'Cause it's a crap box' some might say, but I've found that when I use the same line in my Dreambox DM800HD it is still a little glitchy and when I use it in my HTPC it is pretty much glitch free.
Anyway my mate brought around his Ferguson non-linux box - a box is seen as the lowest of the low - and guess what? the channels, even the least stable, Setanta Sports was totally glitch free.

The other strange thing is that I tried a test line on my Technomate which was fine, but try the same line in the Dreambox and it was glitches r us.

Anyone care to make a suggestion as to why this happens?

hello i want to subscription and want to watch channels on my pc looks very hard to do tho lol

As the saying goes; if it was easy, everyone would be doing it!
You'll need a satellite dish feed, a DVB-S card installed in your PC, software to actually watch the TV programmes (such as DVB Viewer) and then another piece of software to decode the clines (such as acamd).
As others have said, do a search on this forum, all the information is here.
