    Radio times EPG Emulator

There are three significant bugs with CrossEPG downloader:

    1. When using a motorised dish, there is a false lock when moving east for 28.2e
    2. Combining OpenTV EPG data with Rytec data using EPG importer usually results in corrupt EPG.
    3. CrossEPG uses first matching namespace for each {nid, tsid, sid} combination and uses it for all satellites

To work around these issues, a radio times EPG emulator has been created to obtain OpenTV EPG data and provide it to the EPG importer plugin. You will need to use EPG Importer after fetching the EPG data.

If you only use CrossEPG downloader for 28.2, there is no benefit to switching to this plugin.

    Installation:

(From openvix 5.2 044 and other OE-A images from 24/6/2019)

    Coming soon to OpenPLI

Menu > Plugins > Green (Download) > Scroll to "System plugins" > radiotimesemulator > Confirm the installation

Restart the GUI after installation completes

    General EPG settings:

As normal, make sure EPG is set to a storage device and not the internal flash memory

Menu > Setup > EPG > Settings> EPG location> Change to the mount point you want to use > Save

If you only have a USB stick connected, it will be mounted as /media/HDD on some images

    Most PLi images will be

Menu > Setup > System > GUI Settings > EPG settings

    Radio Times Emulator settings:

Menu > Setup > EPG > Radio Times Emulator OpenTV Emulator Import

Some PLi images will be: Menu > Plugins > Radio Times Emulator OpenTV Emulator Import

Change the database location to where the OpenTV EPG files will be downloaded to. (This is not EPG cache!)

Enable the providers for which you want to fetch EPG. The options are dependent on your tuner configuration.

Leave next two options off unless your receiver has issues with polling. Zgemmas, Xtrend, Spycat, Mutant

You can set a timer for fetching the OpenTV EPG. Make sure it is before EPG importer.

Enter time and how frequent you want the download to occur. Daily, every three days or weekly.

If you have a single tuner receiver, best to choose a time when you are not using the receiver.

In the example pictured, it is set daily at 13:10.

Press “Yellow” to perform an immediate download.

The process requires a free tuner to complete. If you don't have a tuner free, the picture will go black while it processes.

Once the radiotimes emulator has run, it will fetch the EPG data as well as create a provider for EPG importer.

    EPG importer settings:

    Setup EPG importer plugin

    Menu > Setup > EPG > EPG-Importer

PLi images will be: Menu > Plugins > EPG Import

    Stage 1:

Set up the main settings, like time, number of days, etc.

On this screenshot, I have set it to 13:15

    Stage 2:

    Set up the provider/s

While in the EPG-Importer main setup page, press Blue for the sources

Highlight "Radiotimes Emulator....." and press OK to expand the list

Press OK to ensure that "OpenTV...." has a tick

Only enable other Rytec providers that will not clash.

    Green to save

    Stage 3:

    Initial download.

Once you set up your sources, you will be returned to the previous screen.

You can manually download the ones you enabled instead of waiting for the automated time.

    Press Yellow (Manual/Download)

EPG Importer will then fetch the selected providers.

It will then run on the days/time you have set.

In order to assist those with softcams from the softcam feed ( what this thread is about), I will be moving/deleting posts that are not specific to cams obtained from the secret feeds server.

If you are interested in using cams not from the secret feed, please start your own thread. Be advised, if they are not coded to work with NEW openATV code, you will have problems.

Stage 3: Edit/transfer your config files

The softcams on the softcam feed use the following locations for config files

mgcamd in /usr/keys (same as before as well as other images)

CCcam in /etc (now same as other images)

OsCam in /etc/tuxbox/config/oscam-xxxx (now same as other images)

Purpose of installing feeds is to install softcam from those feeds. The softcam feed has nothing to do with controlling softcams other than facilitating installation from the feed.

To avoid confusion, feed = softcam download server

If you are using an ipk from somewhere else, it is nothing to do with those feeds. This is not the thread for you.

If you download oscam trunk, it will be the very latest. (up to 24 hour delay)

I use df -Th it shows the filesystem too.

    root@gbue4k:~# df -h

Filesystem Size Used Available Use% Mounted on

    /dev/root 975.9M 584.3M 324.4M 64% /

    root@gbue4k:~# df -Th

OpenVix does not have a softcam feed that you install. mgcamd/cccam for arm receivers has yet to be placed on the standard servers. you will have to download the ipk and install it.

The softcam feed has ipks designed for the image. Any other ipks will not fulfil the image coding.

The instructions that are on the following thread are broken down in stages. It should be straight forward unless people want to do it the old way.

    OpenATV SoftCam Feed

The softcam feed facilitates the download/installation of softcams from THAT server for OpenATV. If you want to use your own sourced ipks, you don't need to use the softcam feed.

CrossEPG has a bug where data obtained from OpenTV EPG followed by Rytec is marked as tainted and dumped. It also has a false lock on 23.5 if moving east. These two bugs have been like this for a while.

The plugin is too convoluted with none of the origianl contributers around to assist or share the inner workings. Case in point is your discovery.

With regards to my remark about commenting/uncommenting, I was referring to where users are asked to edit the file to suit their requirements. To me this is a complication. Have the main file where the common services are linked. People can then add their own ones. Two aliases files will be used.

BTW, as far as my testing on cable has shown, the services not on the NetID do not work. Hardly anyone disables background scanning, so people always scan in channels that do not work. Pure regions are not affected. I wouldn't worry too much about ITVs having the wrong EPG if they don't work. The working one is the vital one.
