Up here in the North of England I have always had to use 0.8 Thor as the starting point of setting up. I know it`s not possible to just fix the dish and think you will get the arc first time. That`s why I pointed out you will have to tweak the setup here and there. But I stand by what I say, up here the starting point is 0.8.

Yes you are correct about the coordinates. But you have to have the motor and dish aligned to thor in the first place otherwise you are never gonna get the satellite arc right.

It`s not as daunting as it looks. trust me. Over the last 20 odd years, I`ve always installed my own dishes. The 3 important steps I take are
1: Make sure the pole/mount your dish is going on, is perfectly vertical.
2: The brackets your motor uses to be fixed to the pole are set at your areas longitude/latitude(you`ll know what I mean when you see the motor).
3: The motor arm should be set at 0. Your dish when fixed to the motor arm should have the lnb arm pointing directly out from 0. Make sure the motor & dish are not fixed to the pole too tight, you need to be able to swing the whole thing left and right.
When you`ve done all that turn the whole unit (dish & motor) to point at 0.8*west Intelsat/Thor satellite and securely fix everything to the pole once you are happy you have a strong signal from Thor. Now once you have a decent settings list in your receiver you should be able to find the other sats when you change channels. Don`t be disheartened if you don`t it will take a bit of tweaking here and there.I`ve just made a simple explanation of what to do, it will be a bit more difficult but no way as difficult as the tutorials will make you believe. Also you may want to get a cheap satellite meter or you can do what I`ve done in the past, have a tv insight of where I`m messing with the dish and set the receiver on a free to air channel. Once I have the dish pointing to the correct satellite that channel should appear.

    Don`t be scared. :06:

The most important part of setting up a motorised dish is, making sure the mount you have the dish motor fixed to is dead level at all angles. I have mine on a scaffold pole fixed to an exterior wall on my house. So once the pole was set at a perfect vertical level it makes the setting of the motor a whole lot easier. Go for it, we`ll keep you right on here. When you do it, you`ll wonder why you didn`t do it sooner. There`s a whole new world out there waiting.

Deffo motorised all the way. I have a Gibertini 1.25M motorised dish and I get just about get everything from 30*west to 45*east. Sports, movies,XXX it`s all there with CS.

I always use the Blackhole images. I haven`t tried the new one yet though, too much xmas spirit going round at the moment. I try other images now and again but always end up back at the trusted Blackhole. Not so long ago there was a survey on here asking which image people prefer/use and I am pretty sure Blackhole was the popular choice.

    Merry Xmas.

You need the serial number from the sky box you got with your red card. On the Sky box, press the services button on your remote then scroll along to "Settings" then down to "System Details" and you should be able to see your serial number. Enter this number into the box generator linked in the first post here. I think you may have to add a 0 to the start of the serial number if it only has 10 digits.

Thanx lacierva. I was contemplating doing that after reading the wiki and trying to work out what the group numbers mean. I think I`m right in thinking ,if all my users/clients have the same group number assigned to them, then they`ll overload the reader that has that group number causing freezing? Anyway I have done as you say and already there is a difference at my end, I just hope my clients /peers are seeing the benefit.

    Thanx bud.

Well I`ve now managed to make my server unwatchable. I don`t have any issues with my local card, I can watch the channels it clears without any freezing. But I have big freezing problems when I watch channels my peers give me. It switches between cache1( I don`t know if I can disable this option) to all my peers who have these channels. I believe if I`m having issues then so are my peers from me.

I`ve studied the oscam wiki page all day and it hasn`t helped at all. I`ve made all the adjustments(if any) to the required fields and there is no difference. All I know is, when I enable the users/clients in oscam the glitching/freezing starts. I`ve tried enabling them 1 by 1 to see if it`s anyone client in particular that`s causing it but it doesn`t matter who I enable/disable.

I run a small oscam server (7 peers) on my Vu Duo2 with latest Blackhole image and Sky Uk Freeview card with BT Sports (0960). Everything has been fine until the last few days. My peers are complaining of high ecms. I also get a lot of freezing when watching sky channels from one of my peers. I`ve tried all sorts of ways to get this sorted but I really don`t know what I`m doing. The only thing that stops the freezing at my end is when I change the group number from being the same on both servers and clients. But then it looks like my peers are offline, not sure if they are. I`ve posted below edited sections of my cfgs, if someone would be kind enough to see what I`m missing:

I`m pretty sure my problems are because of the group numbers I have for the servers and users. I don`t understand what is the correct number I`m supposed to give each reader/account. I`ve been at this for days, reading everything I can, but there is no one way to do it. All the info I find just changes from other info I find.

    bo.

I have full sky(no movies) downstairs in official box and a Sky Freeview card with BT Sports package upstairs in Vu for my server. Wife won`t switch to Vu otherwise I`d be sorted.

    bo.

I`m looking at muliroom anyway because my peers sky shares on my server are very unstable at the minute. So I am looking at getting a second card. As you say, changes are afoot. So either way it`s looking like I`ll have to get a card to keep watching.

    bo.

Cheers ali for the info. What do you mean multiroom is ok after 2013? Did they stop forcing people to make sure the card was in the official receiver? I`m looking in to getting multiroom again but I don`t want to have rewiring to the upstairs bedroom when I can use my vu for this purpose.
