Gigablue Quad is a monster especially if you intend to use all the tuners but my personal preference would be to remain with VU+.

Image has got to be VTi for me every time coz it looks unique and is not stuck in the old Dreambox era. :snicker:

Just google "AtileHD" for more pics.

Sadly, as bh0y stated, multiboot no longer seems to be an option. At least none of all of the OE2 clone images I tried would install either Meo or BA let alone work with then. :(

Appeared to install on ATV but then, as with all images, insisted that there was no HDD installed when in fact there is.

Never got either to work on my Duo2 either. Not that I need or want it.

    Onward and upward. :)

Nemesis edge was always my image of choice for my dreamboxes. Everything was stable and working. Loads of options, skins & functionality. Black day moving to an oe2 image. Daughter wants TSMedia with 1Channel boo hoo! So now using ATV which seems pretty good and the only image I was able to get crossepg working fully on.

Only downside so far is that we have run out of space for all the plugins she wants so the project will continue playing with flashexpander at the weekend.

Kids, who needs 'em. LOL :snicker:

.........also changed 2 primewire.ag in proxy.php file to my website (this could be a mistake?)

Yes should not replace in proxy otherwise redirect will just redirect to self. No need to edit proxy.php at all if you downloaded from this thread. The two files work as they are without need for any editting.

    Restore and upload again.

If using 00, files must go in 'public_html'
.htaccess and proxy.php only in directory.

    Good luck, you're nearly there.

Sorry but it has just struck me that what is weird to me here about all this is that I have never had to do any of this? Did you reboot the box a second time after you flashed it? Which image did you choose in the end?

I ask because I have experienced on some images that stuff like FTP and/or SMB don't work after first boot but do after a second. So this may be worth trying out first.

If DCC go into telnet window. If other make connection first.
    Type 'passwd' enter
input new password of your choice
    input it again
system message "Password has been changed"

Reconnect DCC FTP should now work

    Normally images use:
    USERNAME :root
    PASSWORD :dreambox

But some images leave the password blank (ie no password)

So you might need to set a password via a telnet session before you can use FTP because E2 does not accept FTP anon or blank pwd connections.

If you flashed ViX then I belived the above follows because the pswd on ViX is left blank. On BH I think it is still dreambox?

If you are using this on E2 you can use Dreamboxedit to edit the channel lists wherein you can create as many favorites of your choice as you wish including one for the missus as you describe.

You can then still use ABM as often as you like but it will only update it's own bouquets (ie those that it created). So if in the future there is a desire or need to update any that you created you will need to do these yourself manually using DBEdit.

PS: If you can write using python and have access to the orignal ABM precompiled script (py) you could edit it to define your own lists and thus run the whole thing everytime.

Neither. This type of box is just sold cheap. Any major enhancements are done via the release of a new box. Like Samsung, makers expect punters to buy new kit as opposed to offering them any realistic enhancements via firmware updates.

Enigma can get it's knickers in a twist I have found after it has done loads of recording or watching different types of media from different sources. Sometimes one has to reboot between them. I tend to do a complete shutdown at night unless I want to update my EPG or want to record something but I have found doing a cycle regularly avoids issues similar to the ones you describe.

You may also get around it by simply restarting your EMU or GUI(Enigma) as opposed to a full power cycle.

The principle would be the same yes but one would need to adjust the proxy and also have access to the icefilm's py to allow suitable tinkering. Technically however, this is a discussion for another thread. :69:

Will this guide also work with icefilms too?

Let me state from the outset that I am really, most sincerely sorry if anything I wrote in this thread offended you in any way. I am sure the other board members will feel the same also and want to step right up and give you a big cyber-hug.

There are plenty of threads, tuts on this very forum which would assist you in your quest to use your viewing card in your 8000 and then further share it with others but as you state you have cancelled it there's not a lot you can do apart from renewing your sub or finding an alternative arrangement coz no one is going to admit you to a CS group for free unless you are really lucky.

    Hi and welcome.

Based on your post I'd say you have some serious research ahead of you. Not sure the "Chinese Cheapo" comment is even accurate anymore either as almost all VU+ production is now China based and Chinese Dreambox clones have outshone the orginals for years now. My DUO2 was made in China and yes it is genuine.

The simple answer to your question about boxes in general is you get what you pay for.

I have the Duo2. I'll be honest, as I was nurtured on Dreamboxes, it took me a while to warm to VU+ but I have never looked back since I bit the bullet and bought one. The Solo2 would have actually done me nicely but having had a DM800SE for so long I had fallen in love with the, to some silly, LCD display on the front. The one on the DUO2 is a beauty and configurable to ones hearts content to even display a rolling Powerpoint type presentation while you watch TV. There's a great thread on this very forum with a fine example of this. It also has quad tuner capability and these are plugable as oposed to being fixed on the Solo2.

OK the Duo2 is megabucks and TBH the LCD thing is a bit of a gimmic. So we are actually back to the Solo2 or are we? There are other contenders out there that should not be ignored. The Gigablue Quad for example. Check it out on the forum sponsors website. You'll be quite surprised at how close its spec is to the Duo2's and for around half the price.

    Decisions, decisions..........:snicker:

Styboxes and similar are pretty basic but not completely without merit. They are ideal for those who can content themselves with clicking and watching or as a second bedroom box. They are a big no, no for the real sat enthusiast and the tinkering that accompanies such a personality. Also totally out of the question for multisat unless you are willing to spend hours chopping channel lists down to size to allow adding selective channels from multiple satellites. Not sure if they ever got the EPG, PVR or advertised Mediaplayer to work as described either. Certainly never did during the time I had the misfortune of owning an S10.

If you want a box that is progressive, customisable and continually evolving then it has to be an Enigma based box. Ultimately the choice has to be yours and yours alone but one of the most important factors in deciding is to ensure the one you choose has good image support and is well spoken of in forums such as these. The Solo2 would fit this bill perfectly.

If you can root and flash a phone (Hd2 for example) then flashing an E2 box and setting it up will be a doddle.

Finally, if you have cancelled your sub you should know that to get adopted into any CS ring you will need a valid sub of your own to share with others else you will not even pass go. Doesn't have to be an expensive sub but is should be one that is desirable to others.

    Good luck in your quest.
