You'll know buy the price you paid or where you got it from!

They copy like for like so you wouldnt neccessarily get any chinnese writing anywhere on them?

If you have a sticker like V2 on the back or a warning sticker on top telling you to download from a specific site....chances are its a clone!
If you open it up and Build Quality doesn't look A* its likely to be a clone!

But work just the same....just a fear things to bear in mind!

Loading an Image issue....put USB in the back and it should pickup and install from there ok!

I'd Probably suggest doing a clear out and putting a new image or fresh image on the box and go from there!

Just a rough guide to bear in mind on file size types when recording!

4gb per hour of HD recording
2gb per hour of SD recording

(estimates only - dependant on channel recording)

if that doesn't work try below mate found specifically for BlackHole!

How to setup your Vu+ box for recording on an usb stick or on another device connected to an usb port.

Mount your usb stick by Devices Manager as /media/usb
Blue Panel > Black Hole Settings > Devices Manager > Mountpoints ...

By a software FTP or by telnet
create a folder named movie on your usb stick: /media/usb/movie

Enable Expert mode in Customize menu:
Menu > Setup > System > Customize > Setup Mode: Expert

Change the default paths for recordings:
    open theRecordings Paths panel

Menu > Setup > Sytem > Recording Path

Select the item Default movie location and press the OK button
then press the Menu button and select the item Switch to filelist
now you will be able to navigate through the directories and to select the path
/media/usb/movie by pressing the green button

After you pressed the green button and returned to the Recordings Paths panel
select the item Timer record location by pressing the OK button
and select the path /media/usb/movie by pressing the arrow down button
then press the OK button to save and to return to Recordings Paths panel

Select the item Instant record location by pressing the OK button
and select the path /media/usb/movie by pressing the arrow down button
then press the OK button to save and to return to Recordings Paths panel

Select the item Timeshift location and press the OK button
then press the Menu button and select the item Switch to filelist
navigate through the directories and select the path /media/usb/movie by pressing the green button

Now you will return to the Recordings Paths panel and you have to press the green button to save all the setting and to exit from the panel.

Thanks to Mito (google via vupluscommunity)

you may have to set it up in Hard Disk settings?

Haven't used BH for a while but lookout for HDD or Hard Disk in the settings menu!

You should be able to set destination there (can in vix anyways lol)

Upgrading and Downgrading follow same process good post here

    Birdman,

    Have a look here

    http://linuxsat-support.com/li…address-ubuntu-linux.html

If you choose to do it the router way it may depend on your router make!

Log into Router and it will be under a reference to IP setup or something to those words!

You will be given an option to set between a range.....you put ip address for both of your choice e.g 192.168.0.87 and 192.168.0.87

Save those settings and reboot router!

That's a vague description of what to do but as i don't know setup and im on virgin best i could do!

Delete/Remove that version as its now payware!

starting with v. 6.0 this Plugin is PAYWARE, the downloadable version is a demo with popups. To disable the popups and use all features you need a key - you have to pay at least 9,99 EUR!

Revert to a version pre 6.0 i think....does the job the same! or Pay if you like!

Ps Update you profile with Box and Image......like Ten said the EPG on images now are as good/do the job well nowadays! Vix EPG works for me!

Hi Mate you kind of have a couple of options!

Keep playing with the different versions untill you get somewhere?
I don't know if your using files on TSPanel or Image plugins? If not try those? if you have been, try the ipks in the post

ftp ipk file to your tmp folder on box an install local plugins from box....the ipk should be there and selectable?

Try Caz's Version in Post 79 if you haven't already!

Just ensure when removing and installing e.t.c that you do full reboots....also perhaps double check by going into Tspanel > Tools > Remove Plugin Folders (Just see if folder is there after reboot - it shouldnt be but you never know)

The fact you have most of it working is strange?

I just played with my Duo and it seems the only other way i could stop movie (Apart from switching off lol) was Tv Button > Then Exit? Not sure about your box but try that!

The 2nd option is......Don't use plugin :( (Ive looked through the post and not sure if people have this working on your box? unless someone begs to differ it may not be compatiablt with your box :( sorry )

Keep us informed updated on your progress!

The sense of joy when you do get it working should spur you on! Keep playing!

    Enonboy,

Best to start a New Thread mate although i appreciate this is BH 1.7.6 Issue the Post Topic 'Very High Flash Percentage' may help others!

    2 Options....

Install something like flashexpander....this will install plugins on you HDD or USB to free up some space

Delete some unused plugins as this will free up flash (Using TSpanel > Tools1 . Remove Plugins

As always when making a bit of a system change like this (changing where stuff is installed - Just make a Backup before hand)

Did you install a skin mate? and then it crashed?

Connect to the box via Dcc or something and delete the skin you installed!

The older skin should be there and it will revert back!

If not you may need to re-flash your image!

    Hi SsoFuk,

Ill try and answer as best i can! Perhaps someone else will fill in the blanks lol

    1. what exactly is an image?
The Image is i suppose Operating Platform/User Interface/Software/Application lol for recieving/operating the box! Probably easiest way to explain! without confusing!

These Vary from the Original (supplied by/through VU) and Modified Images by Various groups to provide something a little extra (one could say hack)

    Main ones are:

    BlackHole
    Vix
    AAF
    BlackPole
    VTI

These are mainly VU related as i have a VU but some cross onto other boxes and there are various other ones for say Dreambox e.t.c!

    2. Is it possible to change the default media player to vlc, if so, how? I don't want to stream from my pc but able to play a greater variety of file types from the box hard drive.

Im not a 100% sure but i dont think so....this may be Image specific.....as some images allow certain changes and some not lol
I think you can put VLC player on boxes and play your files though it in the Plugins section....but actually change the default i don't think so! There should be a media player of some sort
that will play any file type.....just a case of digging and playing!

    3. Is it possible to play programs from the multi 'tv catch-up services' such as BBC iplayer, if so, how?

I've seen BBC iplayer asked before and no-one confirms but no-one disproves but i dont think so! Some images offer Web Browser access but Iplayer doesnt work with these browsers so you cant go that way!
TvCatchup (say an app like program) no joy/functionality like that on these boxes.....Yet!

(Look out for new Vu Duo2 that may offer more features due later this year!)

And we do have the pleasure of using a plugin called 1Channel (Provided by Subixonfire)
Excellent plugin....loads of Movies and Tv shows....constantly evolving and updating! Oldies and New stuff.....worth a look! and Closest if not in a way better then Iplayer and TvCatchup (ChoiceWise)

    4. what variety of linux is used on the ultimo? I understand that Enigma 2 is an operating system and python is a programming language. Is this the case?

Someone may state the exact details but in general

    Linux is operating language/system
Enigma2 is an application of sorts!
Python and C++ are used in Enigma 2 and older Version 1 as coding languages

Bit of info taken off the net below!

1.3 What happened to Enigma 1?

Enigma 2 is a rewrite of Enigma 1 (or mere “Enigma”), which is another, older set-top box-oriented DVB viewer and DVR application. Without delving too much into historical details, it suffices to say that Dream Multimedia still ships many of the other Dreambox models with Enigma 1, and develops and maintains this “old” branch of Enigma, too. The DM 7025, however, was shipped with the all-new Enigma 2, and the upcoming DM 8000 is expected to be shipped with Enigma 2 as well.

The most striking difference between the two Enigmas is that Enigma 1 is a C++ application through-and-through whereas Enigma 2 only has a relatively compact C++ core for the lower level stuff and handles much of its internal logic in Python. For instance, in Enigma 2, the user interface logic and menu structures are all handled by Python modules and they could be completely rewritten by merely altering the Python code. In Enigma 1, similar changes would require altering the C++ code and recompiling the binary. In addition to that, Enigma 2 also includes a new plugin interface that allows writing plugins as Python modules. The old Enigma 1 only allowed binary plugins.

I do not know the original reasoning behind developing a new, rewritten version of Enigma, but apparently the old C++ codebase of Enigma 1 was somewhat messy and hard to maintain, and it does not handle multiple tuners and DVB multiplexes too gracefully. These points alone could explain the need for something new.

The Python-orientedness of Enigma 2 makes rapid development and changes in the user interface logic easier, and it should also make plugin development much more accessible to the end-users.

Hope that clears it up a bit Buddy!

    :firework:

there is one in the channel lists section just can't remember which one lol

    i think this for s9-12

    http://linuxsat-support.com/op…enbox-s9-s10-s11-s12.html

i think this one for F3/X3 but if you need wifi you have to enable it and it messes up favourite names i believe!

    http://linuxsat-support.com/op…st-based-sgtflipflop.html

If not ill dig through my files tommorrw for you as i do have them!

But easier enough to Name mate just got to work out how to do it!

Crack open a beer and give it a go!

    Favourites

    Use edit to rename

Then i think you press favourites (or up and down - long time since i setup lol) to change Favourites and rename! Chances are the Favs are setup as most (or write down lol)
