You get what you pay for,no more no less.
Sometimes the "bargain" can turn out costly.

The old saying "you buy cheap you buy twice" springs to mind

If we dont support the originals how can they Develop the next Big thing for the copycots to clone ?
@ the end of the day you'll buy a clone and be left wondering "

    What IF" ...................

your not exactly gonna save hundreds so why bother ¬
Be safe in the knowledge your supporting the Real Developers and not copycot china/iranian money grabbers who offer no real support either ! :moneygrubber:

Dreambox or Vu range mate and your sorted - Or go as cheap as possible and reside with the thoughts of

ahhh well i didn't lose it was only xxx £ £ £ cheapy box anyway

and you probably get a better one next time ? Back to pheonix buy twice quote !

Nothing is perfect though......Nothing ....Even i think the duo could have had a loop through --------- Even humax freesat boxs' has that :too_sad: LOL :matrix:

Stay cool ........ Destiny already decided some believe :burn_joss_stick:

you need to set up oscam to read your card ! You can find all the files/configs in the Oscam section !
Its not too difficult mate ¬ If you get stuck just ask for advice !
Then you'll need to configure cccam to share the card with another set top box ! You can use oscam alone but i believe peers can get your card number so most people use cccam to share.
Dont worry too much about owning a clone just be sure to use clone compatible software ........ i use a tm800 and Vu box so i'm not certain exactly whats compatible !
I would have a look at TSpanel - you can install that to your box and download everything you need preconfigured directly to your box from the linuxsat-support section !
    here _ TSpanel
You've done the hard bit mate - Buying the box to begin with! From here on in it should be FUN all the way

Go to the last post for the latest version !

there was a usb - 5v fan modification by a fella called jimux on some forum or another ¬
If its a straight Non 5ky mini dish Quad ? twin ? single lnb - just take a picture and a note of its position exactlly - most have a degree setting printed around the neck ! One simple way is to mark the 12 o clock position of the lnb against where it sits in the holding bracket - like when you change the cambelt on a car for example - ! Use wd40 on the nuts and screws involved the day before changing when possible if rust is present and you should be good ! theres always the signal meter on the STB for final small tweaks !

if it was overheating then why only some channels would work and others not ? they should all be gone right

NO - VCO's and Semiconductors will and can pick up different frequencies at different temperatures ¬

secondly there are some specific channels which are affected by this, its not that all channels will have this issue. could this still be a LnB thing ?

YES , There are four stages of satellite signal ¬ vertical low band 13v 10.70-11.70 GHz horizontal 18v low band 10.70-11.70 GHz + the same Vertical 13v and horizontal 18v high band (11.70-12.75 GHz) ¬ Most LnBs fail to switch to low band ¬ The receiver sends a 22khz tone to activate the switch as well as the given polarization voltage 13v for vertical and 18v for Horizontal when you attempt to tune to a channel !
Is it a 5ky style mini dish ? if so you can pick an LnB up for very little on Fleebay !
i Have seen lots of LnBs with intermittent faults over the years !
sometimes with spiders living in the feedhorn - as they move about different channels on different frequencies were affected -

    Rik

Could any one tell what could be the reasons and possible solutions, which one of the following list is most likely to cause it, and again any possible solutions
    - Tuner
    - CCCam Server ( from a local provider )
    - Image (currently running DreamElite v3.0 but had this with another image as well with same problem)
    - Drivers (im not sure about which ones im using right now)
    - Dish Alignment

Different channel lists, network scan, blindscan, new software.

Thing I want to try next it going straight to the channels on a cold reciever may be an overheating issue.

the word intermittent is what's most important here ! Your problem is an intermittent problem which makes it very difficult to diagnose !

Have you tried a different LNB ?
LnB is the most probable cause in my opinion or Tuner ?
Alternative is try it on someone elses' set-up (which will have a different LnB) if it still persists you can be sure its hardware related tuner issue _ sometimes you can be unlucky and have a fault, after all there is thousands of units out in the world it must be a game of numbers -
If No problems then you know its the LnB - I have seen different box working with faulty lnbs ¬ all be it intermittently ¬ what i mean is ? Because a Duo worked at yours fine for a short time doesn't mean the LnB isn't faulty imo !

most cable should last 10 years mate at least ¬ like pheonix says unless there is a problem with the plastic outer wall cracking or water ingress causing signal degradation at the Lnb or motor there is absolutely no reason to replace it ! i have seen satellite cable from the late 1980's still in perfect condition ! In fact most older cable has a better copper content than the new stuff - Given the price(£££) of copper, you'll find most cables used nowadays have a steel outer braid which definitely doesn't last as long as copper !
If i were to replace my cables i would insist on using webro ct100 or benvelo H109f as they are the best available ! Most installers use cheaper RG6 type cables these days and would argue there is little difference in signal loss between the two over a short domestic install which i would tend to agree with,However the point here is to do with lifespan and from my experience copper cables last longer - especially when water ingress occurs !
Stay cool and insist on copper when the time comes

I have used the linux operating system, but i would like to know how make a pc server. Would appreciate any help.

Please make an introduction post reza59
    Here is a link
    http://linuxsat-support.com/introductions/
Also it is not considered courteous to Hi Jack another thread as you have ¬ When you've made an introduction you could follow a tutorial from
    Here ...............
    http://linuxsat-support.com/linux-pc-server-tutorials/
If you get stuck there is a support section for PC servers where you can make a thread ! Thankyou mate :rikjaard2:

have you tried a pre made channel list ?
i would attempt to use sgt flipflops latest channel list or catseye ¬ there are lots to choose from !
If the same problem occurs then its likely to be a hardware based issue !

i thought there were security issues involved ! ie using a commercial server system to do summit that's illegal - You probably leave yourself open to be traced easily if you have to link a bank account - email - ip address(from logging in) ect ect ! I of course only use info here for research and experimental purposes i certainly wouldn't share via a 3rd party so to speak ¬ Perhaps i'm just paranoid,Yes i know that doesn't mean THEY wont catch me and i've probably smoked too much just airing my opinion ! joint10

    Hello Masterpop,

wait abit longer mate ¬ i i started with a dm500 and an original eagle box - then a tm500s followed by a tm600 and finally made the transition to HD with a tm800 before getting a Vu duo !
Here is a quote From another MOD which i thought was spot on

All about research really - price, quality and features. Personally I find the original Dreamboxes overpriced, but the Vu+ range would always be up there. At the bottom end there are plenty of E2 receivers that are now competing with the non E2 ones, such as the Gigablue, DM800 HD (Dreambox clone) and now even NewDVB DVB800 HD (which is like a clone with its own brand name). I would say always go for an E2 receiver. No point getting an SD box because the HD receivers are not much more now. I have tried non E2 HD receievers, and believe me when I say that if you have had a taste of Enigma2 previously, you will very likely not like what you see if it is anything else.

too me thats sound advice ¬
Your main decisions are really narrowed down to recording ? Yes or No
If yes Then look @ twin tuner type Enigma2 Receivers'
