IF you mean deep standy and not the fact your box has crashed.

Just holding the power button on your remote should bring it out of deep standby.

The dinobot is still a competitively priced box with or without Android. I personally see android as an added bonus rather than it being its core product.

I don't disagree with your concerns if people are primarily Android, but if that was the case, surely they would just buy an Android box or firestick rather than a hybrid enigma2/android box.

Well as we all know the Chinese and Koreans aren't really known for doing things legally when it comes to electronics and licensing.

I wouldn't be surprised if the majority of android devices you can buy on amazon and ebay don't have the google proprietary software licenses to enable them to rightly and fully use Android Tv, but they all do.

I don't think many people in this hobby have a conscience about whether the hardware or software is fully licensed.

If a box is good, a box is good. Simple.

    In a simplified explanation.

If you only have 1 tuner you can only record a different program on the same transponder group.

    i.e

if you are watching bbc1, you cannot record itv.

But you will be able to record bbc2, because its on the same transponder.

If you have 2 tuners they are independent, so you can watch bbc1 and record itv.

Just had a nosey around my box.

    in

    /usr/lib/python/Components/Renderer/FrontpanelLed.py

    it has this code.

    Code
    if self.which == 0:
    if path.exists("/proc/stb/fp/led_set_pattern"):
    f = open("/proc/stb/fp/led_set_pattern", "w")
    f.write("%08x" % pattern_4bit)
    f.close()

The line there looks likely to be of some relevance.

basically that looks likes it print 4 digits and the %08x is prefixing it with zeros. What it effects, I have no idea.

Here are some other reference points to maybe assist with your solution.

But I can offer no other help. It's beyond my skill level.

I am pretty sure it will be coded into the main source code. It would have to be amended before the main the source is compiled into an image.

I don't think it is something that can be changed afterwards.

I may be wrong, but through my delving through all the screens for my skinning work, I have never found anywhere this can be changed.

Not so long ago, I tried changing what was displayed on the front panel due to a bug in my dinobot display. I found where I assumed the correct place to edit it was (I have forgotten now), but what ever I changed it to, never displayed and just got overwritten by the software.

One of the more hands on team developers might be able to correctly answer your question, but I still don't think it can be done.

Obviously the more processing power a box has, the better the experience of any box, but artifacts and glitching can never be completely eliminated. Your are streaming channels at the end of the day. Even satellite channels glitch. There is always potentially for a bottleneck in an internet stream, whether that be from where the provider is sourcing the stream from, or your own internet speed.

There is nothing wrong with XC plugin it is a very good plugin. I have my own plugin "Jedi Maker Xtream" which is a an iptv bouquet maker, where you play your channels via your bouquets rather than inline like xc plugin. You can find it on this forum in my skin section.

I see all the time on various different forums people complain about IPTV, saying no stability, the streams are not very good, they go off when the football is on, the customer support is crap etc etc.

The simple fact is, there are very good, and even exceptional iptv providers out there. It's just a trial an error process to find an awesome one.

Every man and his dog jumped on the IPTV selling bandwagon when CS mainly went down.

Therefore there are lots of amateurs trying to make a quick buck, without really knowing what they are doing.

If they advertise on facebook, they are probably crap.

If they advertise on twitter they are probably crap.

If you can find them easily on google they are probably crap.

See the trend here. Good ones live underground and don't openly promote themselves in the public domain.

Now how do you find the good ones. Thats a very good question.

Word of mouth, recommendation, reddit, iptv hacking blog sites. (even if they don't play for longer than 30 secs you can use them to determine the channel list and quality of streams - then its a case of finding that providers portal site or a resller for it. )
Ones where you have to pay a £1 or £2 for a trial, tend to be a lot better than those that offer a free 24 hour trial. Free trial providers can easily be hacked with temp emails, so the servers can easily get hammered.

If need be, take 20 different trials out. Don't just use the first one you find.

And as with most things. Have a back up provider. If you main one goes down for maintenance, or is having trouble with a particular channel, then you always have a fallback. As long as the providers are not resellers for the exact same main provider, it's rare for 2 different providers to be down at exactly the same time.

Ps. Don't ask me for recommendations. It's up to you to find your good provider.

    That is not really possible.

You can define buttons to do certain tasks - openatv(hotkey), openvix(buttons setup) but you are defining the action when on the main tv screen.

i.e you have already set up to open favourites from the main tv screen.

All the other screens, whether that be menus, setup etc, are individual screens. It is inside each of these individual screens where the seperate code is determining what happens on certain button presses.

for example on openvix menu.py component. You would have something like this.

If "ok" is pressed do okbuttonclick function as defined in that class.

If "cancel" or" menu" is pressed self close, as defined in that class.

if a number keypad is pressed do the keynumberglobal function as defined in that class

    etc etc

You could actually add in here the correct action mapping and add a close function. But it is pretty faffy. You would have to do this for every screen you wanted to change. And that would mean downloading the uncompressed python file from github, learning how to make your amend. Upload new file to your box.

Also if you map the down button to exit, how do you scroll up and down in the menus????

Is the only reason you have posted this is to promote your website?

Pretty basic information that, so I see no other reason for the post.

    1) Install Anti-Virus Software

er... the majority of anti virus software is now that bloated, you are just going to slow down your computer.

Windows Defender is now a very adequate antivirus software that will catch the majority of problems. No need for 3rd party antivirus unless you think you have a problem.

Other tools you should have in your arsenal and run regularly though.

    Malwarebytes Antimalware

    ADW cleaner

I used to recommend cccleaner but as they now force Avast anti virus onto you I only recommend older versions. Anything less than 5.32 will probably be good.

    2) Keep Your Anti-Virus Software Up to Date.
    see above.

    3) Run Regularly Scheduled Scans with Your Anti-Virus Software.

Run windows defender scan, and malwarebytes scan regularly.

    4) Keep Your Operating System Current

Don't update to windows update 1809 - it can potentially wipe some of your files.

    5) Secure Your Network

Yep - basically change your routers default password if its old.

    6) Think Before You Click

Use ad blocker - popups are where most viruses come from.

Use an anti miner chrome extension - no coin, minerblock

What do people use over the pond? Do they use the same boxes, do they use the same images.

Its a question I have no idea of the answer. Be interesting to know.

    The six million dollar question?

Which is the best build. The answer is the one that suits your needs and usage.

Openpli - is a very bare bones build. Because of this its quick but can be complicated, because it lacks the elements found in a lot of the other builds. Therefore you have to manually install a lot of things to get it to function like some of the other popular builds like openatv and openvix.

Builds that are based on the oe-alliance code... openvix/openatv/openspa/hdfreaks etc etc, are all very similar. The only main difference you will see front end is the menu stuctures. What lives where. There are lots of minor things different in the background, but unless you go digging into the code you won't really notice any difference.

Can't really comment on Team blue or openeight as I have no experience of them.
But another build becoming increasingly popular is PurE2 build. It tries to do thing a little more modern a funkier. Its well worth a look.

Build choice can also be influenced about what skin you wish to use. Skins designed for oe-alliance builds will not work fully on openpli, and vice versa.

There are many tools now available that allow a multiboot. Therefore you can flit between the different builds to try them once you have set everything up.

To answer your question, download a few popular builds and just give them ago. Everyone tends to just settle with a build they like, for no other reason than that is what they are familiar with.

OpenVix is very popular in the UK, as its UK based team.
OpenATV became very popular due to the influx of zgemma boxes that openvix didn't support.
OpenPli is very popular in Europe as their users are more hands on type of people. Most UK users are used to pre-made builds so wouldn't know where to start with openpli :)
PurE2 is for the trendies. Ha.

    Just my 2ps worth.

Personally I don't think there is any advantage.

In my opinion it comes down to skill level as different softcams require different configurations.

This is how I see the 3 different main softcams in a simple summary.

CCCam, simple just works with 1 line of code.

MGCams, has the added benefit of caching your line for supposedly faster channel zapping. Needs config file setting up correctly.

Oscams... you can add multiple lines and it will pick the line with the fasted ECM response. Needs server file setting up correctly.

If you can use oscams and having no problems with it, I think that is your better choice.

And to further add to this, you can install as many softcams as you want and switch between them in the softcams panel.

You can then see if there is any difference between each one, by just switching and see if you are getting problems like glitching or channels not loading.

I am mainly an enigma2 man, so never really used the android side of things.

There is no mention of dinotv on my dinobot4k that you mention in your private message.

There is the main app called live tv and also tv headend. And obvioudly being android you can install perfect player and probably any other stalker emulator.

As far as my thoughts... if you update to all the latest files and drivers, this is a very good box.

The dual boot is wasted on me though as I say, I don't use the android side of things at the moment.

Not to sure about the MAC side of things, because you have to set the boxes MAC to that, that is provided on a sticker on the original box.

Whether you can change this for use with a particular app, I have no idea.
