    Apart from communicating with your peers through server listen port, you shouldn´t have any other EXTERNAL ports open.
    Unless you are transcoding/ streaming or similar..
    Port 80 or 8888 , for example are internal reading so no need to open on the router.
    So which other ports are you forwarding externally?

    Did you buy it from a physical shop or over the internet?
    Is there any decent satellite or electronic shop near you ?
    I would send it there to get an estimate of costs of repair.
    The reason is that it could be anything from a capacitor to transformer to motherboard....
    if this is not possible, then save for another box..

    Sounds like a trojan.....but doubt if it came from linux,...
    Re-flashing the box with a fresh image and changing password and all passwords/ports while disconnected from the external internet will do the trick...

    Sounds like it´s locked onto a different sat...
    if you still have the list saved from your parents´dish, then try opening the FTA channels when back at yours..

    This could be due to the footprint changeovers or trying to "grab the golden goose"!!
    I have had many a good argument with " local installers" at my folks place in torrevieja over all sorts of previous mentioned.....
    Ex-pats who know how to squeeze pension money from innocent/ naive fellow expats or "native installers" who know nowt about European sats,etc..
    Hence the MAG boxes are very popular ( iptv payservers)..

    careful with spacings,etc....
    I´d imagine it´s like other android boxes, as you say :C: server port user pass so I ´d try it from webinfo or webmin if not directly on the screen menu

    I´d say you need bigger,,,,around Torrevieja area, the difference of a 1.9 pulls in everything except BBC/ITV hd and 2kms down the road a 2.8 is needed!!
    the combination of a multiswitch/ db booster means extra cable connections which is usually where a lot of signal is lost.
    ( check with the local expat sat installers would be your best bet)
    in Northern Spain and the difference between a 1 mtr to 120cms with motor + ultrablack quad is about 5 or 6 db
    ( this is a big difference in audio/video quality )
    Another thing to consider would be a lesser size dish facing 27.2º west would get some BBC/ITV HD ( check kingofsat for latest) ( to view these channels you´d need to set up an enigma box with openpli + bisskeys)
    Remember , anything bigger than a 1.9 dish requires local council permission.

    How strange!!! not sure ,but on BH it is placed in var/volatile/temp folder to install using this telnet command:
