refurbished -- mainboard and tuner stay old (usually when needed the ADB replace capacitors in power section), the outer case, power brick, remote control its brand new.
Dont expect to much from nbox (you get what you pay for), however I created a backup of fast openpli for nbox, with everything you gonna need. (the most important).
Its not that bad, can do a lot, but it true that mips platform is best supported.
Nbox use oscam instead of cccam.
1. good soldering skills, the A20 is a really small point to wire up
2. average skills about computers and how to use terminal
3. prefering skills in linux as it will make you mind brighter what you gonna do.
4. special modyficated official software to downgrade installed on te box
5. spare adb5800 with enigma 2.
6. kenar wire (tin wire)
7. usb-ttl (using this cable it takes around 30min to flash uboot for the first time)
8. spare few days if you gonna be doing it for first time, you may stuck on "rebooting" issue after downgrading software, and the run high level may not cure it.

depends what it says on bottom, bska, bxzb, bsla, bzzb.
Only these can be mod, but bxzb and bzzb require CPU SWAP!!.
Its not a wire mod, i do these mod's to.
1st, the bootloader must be working otherwise u cant enter it and enable DEBUG.
2nd, after altering settings you must DOWNGRADE firmware which enables DEBUG. ( to do this you will need already own nbox with enigma)
3rd wired up wires.
4. execute downgrade process.
5, after succesful downgrade you must flash uboot, that take about 30 min to send it over rs232.
6. turn off box, wire A20, boot box, reflash uboot from usb, remove jumper wire and flash other uboot at LEAST 1, can be A19. this will protect you if u brake the one from A20.
7.flash enigma.

There is many questions about these. Lets try clear that in few words for beginners:
"black nbox" its alwayes comes with 250 GB but there is 2 DIFFRENT MODEL, older and newer. IMAGE USED FOR BOTH ITS THE SAME BUT THERE ARE MAJOR DIFFRENCE
Older its called BSLA, this got GLUED PROTECTED AREA visible from TOP.
* old type of hdd holder and cooling, small fan from back, noisy vs compare to bzzb
* slower dvb-s2 tuner (will make video to show big diffrence bsla vs bzzb on favor for bzzb)
* older design of mainboard. For example to wake up hdd needs more time, and few more technical things
Newever, better its called BZZB, this havent got glue on protected area, also these has replaced CPU with NEW ONE!!.(the oryginaly fitted havent got descrambler to RUN "EMU"). This is how to recognize bzzb from bsla, from glue on top of mainboard.

* new design of twin tuner dvb-s2, a lot faster vs to bsla old type and run a lot cooler than bsla tuner.
* re-designed mainboard, can wake your hdd much faster from sleep mode vs compare to bsla. Its more reliable vs compare to bsla.
* most of these come with better model of hard drive installed in. Just never model, its hard to say what you get from factory.
Both model's got same spec when come to cpu,ram, hdd. These 2 are good, however if you can buy in price of bsla the BZZB I will higly recommend you to go with bzzb. Even if you have to pay a little diffrence in price. Its just a lot better box.

The bxzb needs changing cpu to work with EMU where in bska stay the same CPU..
here is not worth pay extra for bxzb model where bska does exactly the same job. These are one of the cheaepest ENIGMA2 box's, run well. You can use my backup image (made for black nbox) on these and will work for you well.

bska/bsla series of 5800 model you can do it.
bxzb and bzzb will need new cpu to operate emu.
Downgrade firmware 15minute, loading uboot for first time take 30min via debug.
+ opening, cleaning, fitting better capacitors etc. Takes time.

if power supply goes down, propably he will have to replace some capacitors inside.
However reboot can be COUSED by people who try to download CROSS EPG TO NAND and fill it up.
Once you fill up nand to maximum, the box will keep resetting itself... or you select wrong skin... :)
there is openpli backup in firmware section of nbox. USE IT!
there is no such thing as cccam for SH4 based receivers
some bootloaders are set on A19 or A20,
Perhaps you used wrong bootloader,
once it show n-fb just press OK on front panel to select where to boot from!!!
ask him to send you back or to someone who knows what is doing, to boot hyperion images you will need a diffrent ENV loaded in bootloader to boot them proply.....
IF he dont know how to enter b4t bootloader menu, he cant flash any image .... can he?? ;)

use correct update file for b4t uboot and select f-nand or L-nand to boot freebox image on b4t uboot.
You dont have to change uboot. You can use b4t to boot that openpli.
When I get a chance I will make photos :) and small tutorial.
boot nbox from backup uboot for example A19.
reflash default a20 uboot.
turn off, put link on a20 again. power box.
DO NOT TRY TO REFLASH UBOOT FROM A20. YOU MUST USE SPARE UBOOT TO START THE BOX AND REFLASH DEFAULT ONE.

yes, from boot menu just select freebox-uboot, after reboot turn off box, and press power it should start flashing.
other way is to use special update file for b4t to load this image directly to b4t uboot and select nand-lamer from b4t uboot.
Just be aware of flashing duo multi boot, best way is to use usb-ttl cable for 100% success.
wizard can GS box, pressing setup after first boot - GS, and few other bits - where can do GS
