I can't speak for the others, but NCAM is not the same as OSCAM.
Fairbirds NCAM adds some useful features and is open source: https://github.com/fairbird/NCam
In my opinion, you should try this over OSCAM or OSCAMemu.

Chris230291, if you restart the NCam reader, does it fix the usb card reader?
No, it does not.
If I programmatically unplug and replug the USB reader using this: https://unix.stackexchange.com/a/243457
It “works” but because I am using Docker I have to also restart the container because of how mounts work (can only mount at startup)
If I wasn't using Docker, I'm sure that script would work perfectly.
I think I could mount the entire /dev... but I think that's a bad idea.
Even if it doesn't help my setup, I think adding the option to restart the USB device on errors is a good feature for others!
It really does work great. Thanks.
Every week or two, my Sky card/reader stops working.
I get a message like “error activating card”.
I believe the issue is entirely hardware related on my end.
My solution is to unplug the USB reader and plug it back in, or shutdown and restart my computer.
Would it be possible for NCAM to detect this error and hard reset the USB device for me?
PC based box?
I'd go for one of those embedded boards from someone like Asrock: https://www.asrock.com/mb/index.asp#Intel%20CPU
Combine it with a nice HTPC style case and add some TBS PCIe tuners.
Run Kodi as a frontend, TVHeadend as the DVR backend.
TVHeadend is probably the best option for a monster recording setup.
Supports transcoding on the fly too.
The only downside is the tuners aren't cheap.
It's also not a "box".
But you could run Kodi on the same machine as a front end.
I run a headless TVHeadend server with thin Kodi clients (Veros and Firesticks).
Free servers aren't what they used to be.
What is different about it?
Create your own docker image for it?
What's different about Mohamed's version?
Im away for several weeks now...... possibly years......
What do you mean?
Well time to start believing it. The dish mount is apparently not entirely compatible with the motor and the proper angles cannot be attained.
A few drilled holes should solve the interference problems and allow for a wider range of adjustment.
It will not hurt anything at all at this point in the game.
We just have a bit of a comprension problem to deal with now.
Once those damned holes are drilled!
Of coures you're free to drive over and help him. Kind of a long and cold swim for me.
Ah OK, sorry, I thought this was all part of the same “kit”. I didn't realise it was pieced together.
You would like to think, if it was a manufacturing error, that it would have been fixed by now.
I only skimmed the thread, and it looks like there is lots of play in that bracket.
If something is stopping it moving/bottoming out, maybe something is on the wrong way round?
I don't know anything about this setup, but I find it hard to believe anything needs drilling.
It can't be assembled correctly if basic angles aren't possible?
Sorry, I have no idea what the problem is.
Are you sure the newcamd line is good?

I get all those on my 80 cm. You should have no problem when correctly aligned.
Don't think I can get all the feeds though with my size dish.
I have watched feeds on 7e in the past, but feeds aren't really my thing.
No telling where it is, too.
Further from the equator, dishes are more horizontal. Closer, they can point more or less straight up.
I just have a simple motorised dish.
Used one of those digital spirit levels and got all the angles absolutely spot on.
Worked first time and I get 52E to 30W.
Don't underestimate how anal you need to be when setting the angles and making sure things are level.
The package does work 100% so don't say it doesn't.
The issue is not many servers have it.
Does anyone know how to buy an official card and activate from outside its intended region?
