I think I understand. You want your variable IP address to act as a fixed ipaddress so your variable address is always updated to the same fixed ipaddress and this is done by the VPN provider as well as encrypting the data. But you still need to setup port forwarding on your router as your vpn provider wouldn`t be able to do it , I think for you.

Years ago there was a little free programme you installed on your computer and as your computer booted up it updated your fixed virtual ipaddress. This was free so you could share different things without giving out your real ipaddress.

The router I mentioned the Asus Tuf gaming AX5400 from memory will let you setup 4 different countries for your vpn service you just setup the ipaddress of which box you want to send wherever using Openvpn or 2 countries with wireguard. I think from memory you can do port forwarding as its I thought a basic requirement for gaming. I hope this has helped a bit. The Asus site had lots f info a couple of years ago.

Why don`t you go to Asus website there it explains about setting up port forwarding and installing a vpn on your router as long as yours is compatible. All the more expensive Asus routers were when I looked a couple of years ago. Just put your model number in search at ASUS UK.

When I looked into compatibility of installing a vpn from the vpn provider on my router some services data was a couple of years out of date only listing some old routers as being able to install a vpn on the router. Go by the router manufacturers data, install per them and experiment. Cheap routers when I looked some years ago cannot have vpn`s installed on them.

Look at the Asus router from my previous post and go to Asus site. Try Proton free if your router is compatible. I cannot see a router not being able to forward ports if they can enable port forwarding and installing a vpn on the router. Some routers will not let you install Wireguard only the Openvpn protocol on the router but you can sometimes update the firmware from the routers manufacturer to enable this.

I am afraid it is not straight forward and at some point you just have to take the plunge and buy a new router if yours won`t do the job.

I would think you setup port forwarding on your router at the same time you installed your chosen vpn provider into your router. I think most new Asus routers that aren`t basic ones will allow your vpn to be setup in the router. You can then setup which country you want to connect up to each device. Some multiple countries. I believe some Asus routers like Tuf Gaming AX5400 you can install either the Openvpn or firewire protocol into the router. This was around from 2022 about. For instance I believe modern routers from Asus will do much more. I haven`t done port forwarding for 15 years so can`t comment much but I thought you used to setup port forwarding and the vpn reacted through your port as its all installed in the router.

Try a free vpn provider first like Proton and set it up in your router. If it works you can always go for its premium product with more countries avaiable.

I am sorry I cannot help more as don`t know much about current equipment.

I had a problem with remote control not working yesterday. I changed the Enigma 2 on the image I was using because I thought it was corrupted, tried to get another image selected. Nothing worked. Turned box on and off at the mains switch a few times which fully rebooted each time, then noticed on front display it said upd or something like that. I am guessing it is for the operating system before the image loaded. Everything was fine afterwards. I hope this is your problem like it was for me.

While trying to open up the enigma 2 folder using Filezilla on my Octagon box I must have accidently deleted the folder clicking on it to open it up. I tried to reboot the box but it won`t and sticks on the boot cycle at 49.

OpenAtV-7.3 is installed. I did USR \ lib \ enigma 2 in Filezilla to eventually see what was in the hosts file. I looked at the stuck box again with Filezilla and the folder is missing. I wonder if somebody can upload the missing enigma2 folder for OpenAtv-7.3 so I can FTP it to my box or tell me where I can download it. I will then reinstall OpenAtv-7.3 into that partition, If not is it possible to get into the recovery boot from there ?

I seem to remember there used to be a clash between SatVenus plugin and VpnManager. Try Installing VpnManager from the Satdream plugin. It installs fine from there if I remember. From some other plugins it comes up as clashing or words to that effect or just wont install. My box uses Python 3. If you can`t get it to work I will uninstall my backup image and update VpnManager and double check where it installs properly from.

Download the openvpn folder from your logged in user at IPVanish. Put the file in a folder in your USB stick and call it OVPN. Insert stick in your box. Open vpn Manager in your plugins. You then enter your IPVanish password and your IPVanish user name (your email) in VPNmanager using menu selected. On some older versions of VPNmanager you had to tick that the two files were in the same directory or manager would`nt find them. Make sure the certificate is in OVPN file. Point the setting in menu to your USB stick and its folder. Exit and save and you should be able to select the server you want. I have`nt used for a few years but worked fine for me.

Just an idea so I don`t know if it will help but I think the SatVenus plugin has Blindspots E2iplayer. You could perhaps install that on your box together with the reqd. dependancies, if its available in the Dreambox format. If it installs o.k. and includes that version of E2iplayer, delete your existing version of E2iplayer and its dependancies and install from SatVenus plugin. It should then work hopefully. I have not got a Dreambox myself and perhaps others can help who have.

On a computer monitor for 4.2.2 at 4k resolution you need a high frequency monitor so perhaps the other problem besides the box, the tv`s frequency is not high enough. My monitor will just handle 4k at 60hz. If I remember 1080i is alternate line scanning so a slow monitor or tv will cope. 1080p is all lines displayed at once and needs a faster monitor. My monitor would only display 4k at 30hz in 4.2.2 input if it was available. I hope this has helped.

Perhaps the tuner in your other box is more sensitive and because the antenna is inside it gives a weak signal. Is a window close by that you could open and also point your antenna out of, in the correct direction so its less attenuated and retry the scan ?

Assuming you have previously installed the Open Vix recovery multi image software on position 1 then you put the Zipped file in the side usb slot with your image and install it in any of the other 3 positions. Download recovery image from forum sponsers and install in slot 1 if not already installed. Instructions on forum together with installing SD or Micro Sd card for more backups.

I have not used compression with Ipvanish so I dont know. if you open VPNManager at top on rhs does it give you your Ip address not through IpVanish ?

If it does download your servers from your login from IPVanish (OVPN files using Openvpn). Put a memory stick in your usb socket. Create a directory labled ovpn and unzip all your servers you want to that together with the certificate (you can put in all IPVanishes servers and select as reqd as some go offline for maintenance etc.) on that usb memory stick. Go into menu for VPNManager when its open and select all or files or something like that in the one directory and point VPN manager to the ovpn file on your USB memory stick. Add your user name (email address for IPVanish and add your password in the menu. When its running you can then select from the hundreds of servers you connect through from your IPVanish account .

Ipvanish works with an earlier version of VPNmanager not tried with the latest. Hope this helps. Worked fine on an older version of VPNManager.

It is harder to install images on this box than others as its not really a newbie box. There is a guide on this site the fifth down in this section from Oct 17th 2018. Its a bit out of date but if you follow it, it is a good learning experience. You will soon see the differences in the changes to the modern installation . Unfortunately its quite a while since I did this so cannot remember exactly the changes.

This guide will give you Openvix in position 1 which will allow a recovery if you need it. Other images are stored in the Micro SD card and adapter you install into the box from the back before installing any image. Hopefully you own an SD card already or Micro SD with adapter. You can then install the images you want in other positions and store them in the SD card installed in the box.

After the latest version of OpenVix recovery software is installed, reboot the box with the recovery Openvix. When rebooted do your settings. Install configuration etc as any other box for this image.

Plug in your USB stick with the image you want in the Zipped form you downloaded, then go into the OpenVix Menu as thats now in position 1 in the boot menu.

Select Menu , then Setup, then Vix then image manager.

You can then install your new image in any of the other 3 available positions. Follow instructions on screen and boot into the new image.

To install the image you want on a USB memory stick. I use an old 1GB stick formatted fat with the zipped image to install. You can only have one USB stick connected to flash an image. If you have films on another usb stick the box won`t see the images just the films on the other stick if two are plugged in. After installation remove the USB stick. It will have copied the image to the Micro SD card so in the future you can delete a previously installed image and reinstall in the future if you need to without using a memory stick.

Hope this helps. It is a very good box with good picture quality.

Have you tried swopping the 2 lnbs inputs on the box to see if the problem then occurs with the other tuner ? If it does then fit a new lnb to the dish. This is assuming you have taken the lnb connector off the end of the feed, cleaned up and refitted. Sometimes water ingress occurs and its easier to cut a small amount off the end of the cable and reinstall connector. Make sure to seal connector on lnb again afterwards.

Have you installed the VPN Server correctly in the plugin together with your username and password ?

I have never used that plugin. I used to use VPN Manager Plugin and ovpn server files and username and password for your VPN service.

If you don`t get any help you could go down that route. From memory VPNManager ver 1.14 is the one to use with OpenPli 8.3
