Change of plan, i will be using a different motor. I am raising my pole higher so i want something stronger than the moteck.
Although i am not a total noobie, i do have a Labgear S501 Sat Meter and i have pics of my old install showing where 1west is located, I may try and align it myself whichever motor i use. Ive done it before but didnt have the meter at that point i had a dumb dooschbag helping me. I knew more than him.
Actuator?
I purchased a brand new Jeager SMR 1224
-
The 1224 was designed to drive the channel master dishes. 10 years ago they wasnt around anymore as they stopped making them around 15 years ago. The superjack actuator was the next best thing that would drive a larger dish. The superjack actuator would not go as far [east or west] as the 1224 does giving it a better advantage. I was lucky to find mine brand new in its box a few weeks ago. It cost me a small fortune but its well worth it. I totally trust this motor as now my dish has finally found its lifetime partner...the 1224 :)
SSS who sold them, probably were you got the superjack will also tell you that the 1224 was the only motor they would trust on a cm 1.2. I know this because Dave from SSS told me a couple of weeks ago.

This is what i bought yesterday:
-
It will be a great edition to my install. Always good to have a backup unit, Has a 1TB HD aswell.
-
Ebay.de, struck a deal with a member there. Twin sat version £286 delivered to UK.
The one i have now was from germany also. Bought that for less i think.
-
Is it silent now
It actually has a very low hum but thats normal. The alsat sounded like a tank lol
-
great news we’re did u buy it from
Satellite Superstore £99.95. Yesterday i also managed to buy a second VU+ Ultimo 4K from Germany. Now waiting for that to arrive in the UK :)
-
Just hooked up my new Primesat V-Box, took a couple of hours to do the positions again but now i can power off as normal, Maybe the Moteck box was duff.
-
No, i have carpeted floors, i put a mouse mat between the vbox and the reciever to keep it really low.
-
Dose ur box ie positioner hum
yep both my motek and my alsat, hoping the new one is ok for a while. The alsat is more noisy.
-
Ive just ordered a Primesat PR1200 always good to have a spare as they are getting rarer these days. Just a pain in the ass putting all the positions in.

If it were me...... i would spent the money on the old non FBC tuner type - please note the old tuners are NOT dvbSX - so multistream channels dont work
(i personally don't watch them anyways)
abu baniaz has said the the FBC tuners on the VU (and gigablues) always remain powered on.
So the Vbox will always see the tuner as being active and stay on. ( you can test this by placing your ultimo in DEEP STANDBY )
I noticed that when i do switch the ultimo off at the rear, hence cutting supply to the lnb the vbox does go into standby. Still curious has to how the alsat was able to go into standby by simply putting the ultimo into standby and the moteck cant.
-
The FBC tuners always output a voltage on the Vu and Gigablues. You can setup a power timer to put receiver into deep standby if you want to switch off power.
How is it that i didnt have the problem with my alsat gboxes?

Theory: The Moteck may be designed this way. If it was faulty it would not move the dish etc. Point to note here aswell. There is mention of this in the troubleshooting in its manual saying its because the LNB is powered.
My primesat Vbox remains powered at all times the tuner is active.
When my ultimo is in standby the primesat also goes to standby
When i select an IPTV channel my tuner goes off, and the primesat again goes to standby
The primesat also goes to standby if i use other tuners.
As far as wiring goes, there can be one way of connecting up the Vbox so doubt it is anything to do with that.
It is your tuner set up that bugs me,..
I dont use the FBC tuners (because they cant blind scan) i have an old normal type (non FBC) Twin tuner in the 3rd slot that comes up as tuner I and J
The vbox with the 1.2m dish are on tuner I and another 80cm usuals dish in on tuner J.
When i bother i add other fixed dished to the FBC tuners.
Is i get a chance later i will try and mess about with the FBC tuners.
if i was using my current non FBC twin tuner - with one dish and twin LNB like you have.....
i would have the tuner setup like this:
Well this is unusual because i tried that setting already and it did not work but ive applied that setting anyway because that was the setting on my previous setup .
I think i will buy the Primesat 1200, its always handy to have a proper spare. Thanks guys.

I bought it off ebay for £10 + Postage. I really think its the motecks design. Can you post a screenshot of your box troubleshooting section. I wanna check if its states what you see in my manual from the pic attached [Last Option]
-
that is a strange one I can’t think of any thing
Does your Primesat work like the moteck or are you able to power it off? Purchasing one for £100 is a gamble.

After further testing this morning here is what i tried:
Tested the plug / fuse ampage = all ok
Tested Alsat GBox = I am able to power off as normal with same wire configuration. Point to note that the Alsat manual does not mention any kind of my error in the troubleshooting in its manual regarding switching it off either via the remote or front panel.
Theory: The Moteck may be designed this way. If it was faulty it would not move the dish etc. Point to note here aswell. There is mention of this in the troubleshooting in its manual saying its because the LNB is powered.
Now it would be nice if someone else has a moteck to check this on theirs. Otherwise i am open to solutions again.

It will switch off when i physically switch off the ultimo 4k at the rear. I believe my tuner settings are correct from memory of my previous install. Ive attached some pics. I will test the plug theory tomorrow.

Is it ur ac power from ur plug at the mains dose the v box switch it’s self off by any chance
Not that i have noticed, i was just reading the manual and found something, see pic. Like i mentioned earlier, if i switch around the cables at the back of the reciever [Tuner LNB inputs] i can power it off as normal but leaving it this way wont move my dish on channel change.
