How to use Surfshark OpenVPN in Enigma2 STB using VPN Manager
Thanx, reported....
You have the solution on this forum, just do a little search...
mitchy1690 - that old Zgemma might not have the juice to deal with the OpenVPN encrytion. However, H7 and H9 series do!
Jw2000uk - one must have all the parts (keys and credentials) included, as I wrote earlier, so one must deal with auth, cert and .ovpn files properly!
All the files do NOT have to be in the same folder, if you do things properly.... Put it to NO!
Default DNS, as I demonstrated: 1.1.1.1
Surfshark has both keys in .ovpn file, other providers do not, as far as I can tell. So, in that folder, it seems to me, one must have to have at least another file, which contains the other key.
Whereas your login details (username and password) go to plugin.py file, as I described....
Which version of the plugin are you using? Which text editor?
Either way, go up and down the plugin.py and find username and password lines...
In the previous version it was around 50th line, in the version 1.1.4 it was around 60th - it is obvious for anyone to see....
Or you can also try our image for it. I have the box, so PurE2 is available here:
http://www.pur-e2.club/OU/images/index.php?dir=6.5/xtrend/
The feed (MENU > Plugins > green button > etc. etc.) has everything you need.
Especially the FNC plugins written specifically for PurE2... ;)
P.S. I would recommend OSCam Emu Ccache as the best...
@ all struggling with setting up OpenVPN ("manual setup") in E2
Unless I am terribly mistaken, there is a small difference between Surfshark and the rest of them, when it comes to OpenVPN "manual" setup....
So, the difference between Surfshark OpenVPN (= manual setup for Enigma2) and the rest of VPN providers is just one file, where they keep one of the encryption keys. Surfshark have them both in .ovpn file, while others split them in two ("cert" and ".ovpn" file, while "auth" file, if memory serves, is for username/password). The principle is the same.
So, for other VPN providers who do not know how/don't bother to put both OpenVPN keys in one file (ovpn), you just need to add that extra file with the the other OpenVPN key.
Your username and password should go to the VPN Manager py file, as described in detail by me (you can even do it using your remote controller).
Good luck!
P.S. I urge you not to put the .ovpn files on a Hard Disk Drive (HDD), which has moving parts - but on USB stick or SSD or mSD, perhaps even the flash (I wouldn't - so when I have to reinstall - everything is ready for me on my USB stick, so that saves time, too).
P.P.S. If you have older, weaker machines with 400 - 750MHz processors - this might not work very well (or at all), since OpenVPN encryption might need more firepower, like newer STBs with quad core 1.5GHz processor and enough RAM....
Post no. 2 will help you understand what is going on with Surfshark and then you will see that other VPN providers have one more file, an additional "key" file: PROTECT YOUR STB WITH SURFSHARK VPN SERVICE
Of course, this is for a different plugin, which is included in OE-A images, probably in OpenPLi, too...:cool1:
But I explained the principles, so it's easy to understand, once you sit down and read a bit... ;)
I mean, even I managed to get it, so....

One can also use E-Channelizer like so (I have a full version), in order to create a list for one's needs:
This is what FileZilla Client operation looks like, while using PurE2 on my STB.
Host = your STB's Home Network IP address (like 192.168.xxx.xxx or 192.168.1.x or 192.168.100.x etc.)
User = root
Password = pure2
Port = 21
Press Quick Connect.
On the left side is my PC folder tree and on the right is Enigma2 STB's folder tree (Zgemma H9 Twin).
Transfer from one to the other is done by a simple drag and drop to the designated directory.
And these 2 are:
1) ALL satellites
2) The above file put through the E2 converter (corr in the title)...
Just in case anyone is struggling... ;)
And this xml problem has been talked about here, as Jens advised you:
satellites.xml creator - if one doesn't have one's area already catered for!!!
Look for PurE2 section here, guys: PurE2 Image Team
That's where you get the most info about setting it up and using PurE2.... ;)
Delfi: "Sources from OSCam-emu updated ---> oscam-emu + ccache on v11642 and the rest of OSCams"
This is Zgemma H9 Combo OEM and if this is something to go by - no Droid for it (yet)....
