I have the latest version (6.2.0u) and it works great at the default settings. I noticed that if I set the restart delay to anything other than 0 then the plugin never restarts anything. It doesn't matter to me, I just leave it as 0, I am just mentioning it.

(Latest OpenVix on Gigablue UHD UE 4K)

That's interesting, thanks for the note. Maybe grab a debug log or several with the various settings and when a channel is restarting? Beware that the debug log contains URLs and authentication credentials, so probably best if not published (but if you do get it, I'd like to see it privately to try and understand what's going on).

You add something to the field, but you shouldn't need it anyway, like I said, and run the risk of doing double restarts (at least on zap). It's a hack, as its name implies, and the external stuff I probably should have removed or at least rename as a hack as well.

    Hello guys,
I installed QuarterPounder, but I was wondering if these are the right settings for "external" ?
    So it can include : Extplayer3 (5002), Gstplayer (5001) and IPTV (4097) ?
    Thanks in advance!

Don't worry about that setting, it's not active if you don't set something on stuck channels hack - it was more of an experimental thing, and you probably don't want to use it if there are no issues with the regular settings.

See attached debug file, can anyone understand what the issue is? and is it fixable?

    thanks

Your IPTV credentials are in the log, so I wouldn't paste it here (and I'd ask your supplier to change those).

There's a single evEOF logged, and for that channel (SONY MAX HD) the service was apparently restarted correctly by QuarterPounder.

There are no references in the logs regarding any other IPTV channels - are you using the latest QP version? debug logging after evStart seems incomplete.

Without references to the other IPTV services), namely BBC1 or BBC2, it will be impossible to know what's going on.

I do see just a bunch of "evEnd" spread around the file, which denote a normal close of service, but I presume that's you just zapping around.

I also see quite a bunch of recording events: although the plugin doesn't act on those and they shouldn't interefere with restarts, I wouldn't expect to see that many and with such frequency - do you have timeshift activated for IPTV or something? Not sure what would cause them.

As per many other replies, maybe you're doing nothing wrong but the event of broken stream is never sent/received by QuarterPounder; the advice is also the same: make sure you're running the latest version, turn on debug and inspect the debug file created under /tmp to check the behavior between well behaved channels and, most importantly, when a channel fails to restart (it's important to grab the file then to check what the plugin is seeing/doing).

    Hi

I am trying to install quater pounder ver enigma2-plugin-extensions-quarterpounder-6.2.0u.ipk which is downloaded from the first post ont OpenATvV 7.2 but it comes up with error "Unknown package" . Is this packag comaptiable with OpenATV 7.2?

    Thanks

Should be, but I haven't ran oatv7.2 ever that I recall, so no idea really - maybe someone can try. Before that, make sure you did download the IPK and not some HTML text from Github (it happens more than you would think).

As soon as i click on a radio station the plugin closes, running on VU Solo 4k OpenVix 6.2.009

Is there a work around for this?

It's supposed to close, depending on what you have on the .json file. If you look at the stream lines vs the marker lines, and as explained in the data_scheme comment, if the last field of the line is "true", the plugin will exit after selecting/enable that source. If it's "false", it won't exit.

So, if you want to keep the plugin on for a certain source, just change that field in the line to "false" instead of "true".

First of all, thank you for this plugin and for sharing it. I wanted to ask you a question regarding the recording of IPTV channels. When a recording of a channel of this type is being made, if the IPTV channel stops, the recording also stops. Do you know if with this plugin active and configured, the fact of restarting the playback of the channel would not stop the recording?

As far as I researched, there aren't good signals/events to restart the recording (the plugin has some exploratory code for that), so restarting recordings isn't possible - this is also described 2 comments ago.

Thanks for answering. With the previous question I did not mean if the recordings could be restarted, if not if restarting the playback of IPTV channels quickly could prevent the recordings from stopping, which happens when there is a cut in the playback of an IPTV channel .

I would say those are unrelated, as recording should create a separate streaming connection, but I'm not 100% sure and can't really test right now.

The plugin only logs recording events, it doesn't act on them. so it shouldn't be preventing any recording. Not sure what differences you're seeing between timed and direct recording?

The code is only there because it was an experiment to see if the same logic could be applied to restart recordings (of IPTV channels) as it is applied on restarting playing services - because the required events aren't triggered by E2 (and resume recordings is really complicated), that isn't possible.

Also, the final "handling..." message you pasted isn't coming from the recording code either, but from the playing service receiving an "end of file" event (evEOF), and it being handled as usual.

That just means that when you're generating your bouquets, you should pick 4097/IPTV as the stream type. DO NOT put it as the "External" setting on the plugin.

Serviceapp is a system plugin that gives you ability to mess up with more players, but you don't really need it, as far as I recall. I do have it installed but don't mess around with reassigning the different players to different stream types, just installed it to avail from other stream types/players in other bouquets.

    HTH.

And ignore the previous comment, that was a curse of having repeat messages in the code in different points.

The error is obvious and easy to fix/workaround, but it seems that the system is starting a service for which we can't get the service reference for... Which might lead to all kinds of fun as not being able to restart anything, etc...

Not sure why that would happen - I'll workaround the crash, but the plugin likely wouldn't work once that situation arises, as there wouldn't be any service memorized to later restart (I'll try to workaround that, too, but I'm not sure how effective that will be).

I'll put out version "u" in a bit, please test and collect some plugin debug logs if things don't seem to work (fingers crossed there won't be any crashes this time).

I have a vu+zero with openspa 7.5.005 and when I choose the radio station it doesn't mute the audio of the main channel,

Has this same thing happened to anyone?

Just posted 6.2.3o with a workaround "borrowed" from Ziko's plugin, for MIPS boxes - might rework the code a bit in the future, but the functionality should remain, please test it out.

No longer working for me on Ultimo4K with OpenBh 5.1, as in nothing works, not even mute / unmute the only thing I notice is a very very slight pause in sound on exiting the plugin.

Can you turn on debug and check what it says? I'll try removing the alsa tweak tomorrow, as I suspect that can be it.

Edit: 6.2.3p with alsa tweak defaulting to false, try this one, please.

It's a known issue on all(?) VU+ MIPS decoders, it's noted in the README.
