    Update,

I cleared oscam from my VU+ and ran MGcamd 1.38. This is running the 0960 card fine now., However MGcamd will not clear my other stuff such as 0100 and 1814 etc. They will only work with Oscam, so it looks like I need both cams to run at the same time ??????.

This is what I have on my server. As you can see I have access to friends other cards which work ok.

My amiko and opticum receivers open the 0960 card with MGcamd .

    Hi All,

I have been running oscam on my vu+ duo recently which has been rock steady. I have an N line from a friend which connects to his 0963 card but he has changed the card to 0960 recently. Now my Vu will not clear pictures. I logged into my Vu with the oscam interface and it shows the channel I am trying to view as 0963 and sometimes 0961. I tried the same on an opticum X7 with MGcamd and it works fine, oscam will not. The opticum shows the proper caid 0960. Mgcamd on the Vu will not work. To clarify, I have a server which runs oscam and all the receivers in my house connect to it. My friend gave me an Nline which links my server to his cccam server.

    Thanks,

Received one today. Working better than my Vu+ duo, which was pretty troublesome over the years. The alpha has the terrestrial tuner which my Vu didn't have. I am ordering some more next week. It's pretty responsive and hasn't misbehaved yet. I don't want to praise it at this stage just in case I bring the blight on it. :):)

    Thanks ,

I tried your cccam entry and things are the same. I am beginning to have serious doubts about the alien 2+. I now see that the epg is acting up. I have been using crossEpg / OpenEpg on my Vu+ duo for years without any issues. The Alien intermittently sticks at 75% during the parsing process. Also I noticed that during Epg downloading live FTA pictures tend to glitch a lot. I am wondering if this box can do more than one job at a time. I might try one of these but haven't read any review yet, https://www.world-of-satellite.co.uk/tiviar-alpha-plus. Can't be much worse than the Alien 2 at this stage.

let you know how it goes.

    Thanks

Just to clarify. I now am running the cccam on oscam only as per my #14 post as a test. It's not ok.

My other reader in oscam which is clearing the 0963 channels are ok. Have you an example of cccam in oscam so that I can compare with mine. What do you think of my cccam entry in#14.

    Hi Pauldb,

I didn't use a c line to oscam convertor. I just made it up and thought I got it correct. Here are my configs. The emulator / dvbapi I know nothing about. Don't know if I need it as I don't have a local card in the box. ?????????.

    Hi ,

Oscam channels running ok however I put my friends c line into oscam and it runs and freezes constantly. I checked his c line in an Amiko mini running cccam and it runs fine.

    UPDATE.

Using the oscam web IF I disabled the line that clears my oscam channels and the cccam channels now work perfect. It looks like there is a conflict when oscam has to handle both c line and N line services.

    Hi,

I managed to get the oscam installed by ftp it to temp and then installed it manually. It runs channels on a 0963 card perfectly. I also have a C line from a friend and am wondering what is the best approach .

    Update,

Tried Open ATV and all went ok until I try to configure the tuners. At the moment my box has tuner 1 and tuner 2 satellite only. Tuner 3 is terrestrial or cable. The image only seems to allow for tuner 1 terrestrial / cable and tuners 2 + 3 satellite.

    Confused

    Thanks guys,

I will give it a go. Will try Hyperion first and see how it goes. I think all these boxes are great at first as my VU+ duo was when new. Having said that I had to replace some faulty capacitors once and a year later a regulator . There not building stuff like they used to.

    Hi All,

I have an Amiko alien 2 triple tuner box chipset 7162 sitting here on the shelve and would like to put it into service. I decided to install Vix 4 on it as this is what I am using on my Vu+ duo's etc. However I am not happy with the outcome. The box is very slow to respond to the remote control commands and it seems that the more I add to it such eg, HD and usb stick ( for epg storage ) the worse it gets. Can anyone suggest an image that is more suited to this model. Maybe this is the way the alien 2 triple works at its best ??????????.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,

Don't know if you got to the bottom of your problem or not, however the first thing you need to establish is the actual signal strength you are presenting to your receiver. You may be at 'cliff edge' and putting a splitter in the feed introduces 3.5db additional loss which could be enough to put you over the 'cliff edge' and cause picture break up. Different DVB standards are more robust than others. Sat which uses QPSK will tolerate a very weak signal with lots of errors before picture loss. DVB-T, I have seen working as low as 48dbuV and is designed to handle multi-path (ghosting) very well. The only true way to check is to measure the signal at the receiver. Going by the receiver on screen level indicator is not accurate enough.
