Didnt sly bb have issues with over subscribing users on their broadband packages and not have enough bandwidth to go around them all? I know it was defo happening in doncaster where people had broadband that was like having dialup, even though the connection speed was prettey good, there was very little internet bandwidth available to them beyond that

When you say it says GP on screen, I think what your seeing is the main screen what comes on when you first buy one, get it home and plug it in, It stays on the Boot Screen GP and i think what needs to happen next is the settings need changing to Diseq and picture settings, then a channel scan, and connection to a card sharer

After selling off the Pi Servers, i have now taken back the boxes i bought and let my family use, theres 6 in total :

    3 x Openbox X3
    2 x Openbox S11
    1 x Dreambox 500s Clone

All are in working order, The Openbox's are all HD and all have HDMI and a Scart socket, all appear to be genuine chipsets and have been loaded with software without any issues, All are in clean undamaged condition. Remotes are all included and working and in good condition. 1 S11 i still have the box for.

The Dreambox is in working order, Has the small black remote and is in fair working condition, this one is only standard definition picture and uses a Scart Socket. Box is in good condition, remote has a few teeth marks around the top, i will disinfect it before sending! This box is a clone and is running Pli Jade, however the box does freeze once or twice a week at most and requires powering off and back on again but does work well otherwise. I still have the box for this.

The Openbox's all cost £49.99 new and i would like to get £25 each for them
The Dreambox i think cost somewhere around £50 - £60 and i would like to see £20 for this

I can post anywhere, within the UK will be a fiver anywhere else ask me

If you would like the lot make me an offer through pm

    Thanks

I originally setup a Oscam server on a computer with help through this forum to share the card around the family to around 20 boxes or so. After a month or so having the computer on 24/7 it was costing more than i liked to pay for electric so i looked for a cheaper alternative, i found the Raspberry Pi, I bought 2 of the Type B model with 512Mb ram and configured them using Debian Wheezy and setup for Oscam 1.20 build 7944. I have had both switched on 24/7 since November last year 1 hosting the card, the other just waiting for the card to be swapped over just in case the main unit failed but i have not had any issues. Both units have the Omnikey 3121 usb card reader.

The main unit has had 18 users online and with football match days, ive seen 15 users online viewing the same channel without issues. The units have been setup to auto reboot everyday at 5am and have done so each day without fail.

Each unit has a Sandisk 4gb sd memory card with Debian and Oscam on.

The power consumption has been around 2 - 3 watts per unit per hour which is about a 1/4 of an energy saving light bulb compared to 200 watts from a compact computer

Both Raspberry Pi units are housed in a Black case made for the board. Both also come with a 1000ma power supply adapter.

Im offering these to any user who wishes to buy one instead of putting their own together and im open to offers.

Reason for sale is i was financing the card myself but it has been taking its toll after i lost my job (Thanks Mc D's) and the rest of the family agreed to share the cost between them and quite frankly it was like trying to squeeze a steak from a lions mouth. So having being taken for a ride by my own, i don't feel its right for me to continue with them.

If anyone is interested, please do ask questions or send me a pm, i hope this is fine to post this here and if any mod would like a share until the card expires id be happy to accommodate you.

There are too many variables to give a reliable answer, net, machine spec, reader used, which cam and the list goes on.

It is unusual that you would only want to share, most people I know that participate in such activities, trade off details, doesn't have to be on other sats either, you and your peers could get different packages this would also distribute the the requests more evenly between you and avoid having to consider, how many before I get problems.

The way i saw its use was instead of each of us paying the £70 ish a month for all channels in each house + an extra £10.50 for an additional box in another room, i thought if i setup 1 server with 1 card with the full package with all channels on, i could have a box in the room and 1 in the bedroom, one of my sisters could have a box in the bedroom and 3 more for the bedrooms, another sister could have 1 +1 in bedroom and my parents have 1 + 3 for the bedrooms then later on maybe id let my cousin and uncle on the server too so we could save ourselfs a fortune,

I had never really thought of trading details as we only use this one network for the tv channels and having all the channels already doesn't make sense to me. The other thing was im new to this over the last year and to start with i was using some dodgy pay server to get cheap tv for myself, i thought it would be a good way to go for the rest of the family to use a pay server but i never recommended it because of it being poor reliability so i looked into providing my own server for the family, if that makes sense

You read my mind as i was coming back to the computer, its wierd, i reboot the server daily and i never ever reboot the bridge or router! Thanks, i'll give that a go and see if my sister moans at me for the 10 second gap in tv lol.

Just out of curiosity, with 1 viewing card, how many boxes could i possibly run off the server before lag realy kicks in, im thinking about having a box in every bedroom for each of the kids aswell in family so potentially around 20 boxes, or would i need to put a second viewing card in?

    Thanks again!

Hi, Ive had the server up and running for over 2 months now and started off with 2 users connected to it and then 3 and i added the 4th box 2 weeks ago, I reboot the whole server daily, its on Debian through the auto setup on this forum with OSCAM 1.20 build 7029 unstable.

My problem is all the boxes are getting a momentary split second freeze thats only been noticed today, and im notr sure what it can be, however when i look at the log flowing through oscam each address says what its looking for and in the found it says anything between 80ms and 120ms but i believe this is consistent from what it started out with.

I have it in 3 different houses all family and local all hooked up on a local fibre network with realy low latency of about 3ms and with capacity of around 110mb download and 40mb upload and theres no restrictions or chokes on ports or nothing.

Any suggestions on what i could try my oscam.server settings are ..

Any hints or suggestions i welcome :)

I was planning to connect a few more boxes up over the next couple of weeks but im a little uncertain at the moment.

Oh i forgot the server is running on a old dell pc, its a P4HT at 2.8Ghz i believe with 512mb ram (I intend to upgrade it to 1GB tonight if i can fix this) and has 80gb hard drive

    Thanks Again :)

Right, well ive done all of that and now ive found out to put the boxkey in the oscam.server file, do i need to do something to tell the boxkey to use it with the omnikey reader? if so how would i go about that?

On the s11 box now it does say online for the user but no channels are coming through

Thanks again, i know im a pain

Ok, well i started afresh because i had been playing with things in the oscam program before thinking that somehow a miracle would happen and the card just share! i know your probley laughing your ass off but yeah, so fresh install again, installed the omnikey and it found it and copied over the Oscam configs over, did i need to change anything to the files i sent over at all?

So now i have that done, im thinking about the boxkey, i converted it into hex and tried it on a s11 box and it worked fine, so im thinking how do i get this key onto the server, and once thats done is it just a case of sticking the card in the server and duplicating the test account or do i need to input more information into the oscam web page?

Starting to make some sense :)

    Thanks a million!

Hi, new to this and would like a bit of assistance and some things arnt making sense to me.

Ive setup the server with debian and installed oscam and cccam as directed. I did this a few days ago and the server has been left running for a few days until the sly was installed so i had something to put into the omnikey reader, which was pluged in before installing debain and appears to be installed.

So heres where i am, theentitlment configs, ive seen the files, i just cant seem to log in by the usual ftp method, when setting up debain i setup a password for root i believe and another username and password as it asked but i cant seem to get in by ftp to the server with those login details, am i missing something? when installing debain should i have ticked anything but webserver to install?

I now have an active card, i got the serial from the box and it starts 037*****70 10 digits long i read one thing saying 10 digits and another saying it should be 11 digits but the 10 digit code as it is gives me 7numbers followed by a letter, 8 in total, is that right? Again, stuck on how to update the cfg file without ftp to the server, im begining to thing should i reinstall it all?

Any assistance in easy terms would be helpfull

    thanks :)
