I don't know what else can be programmed.
I doubt the firmware was able to program the protection ic.
I never wrote down the original mac id so I don't know if the one that shows with anonymousx is correct.

the tuner has the m3501 chip which can be programmed(don't ask how).
I just found out it was the anonymousx beta firmware that killed it.
Pop out the tuner and it boots.
The tuner has an id which the firmware detects,if bogus you get the --

    Maybe this is the problem

    1) Load EromUpgrade and run it. Select "Upgrade" and check the "bootloader".
Select the image "HDS2_CMT_Eng.abs" and give "Next".
Once you finish the upgrade will show us these symbols " - - ". Turn off satbox.

That one boots on the s10,but the sys info screen shows all zeroes for the id's and the tuner doesn't work.
That means there must have been a hardware difference back then from newer receivers.
The old march 2011 boots to -- on front panel. The oldest s9 firmware that will boot and run on the s10 is the march 25,2011 firmware.

Somebody on another site posted an ariva200 updater and said it worked for openbox so I tried it with an s12 update I found on the net recently. After loading,it just showed -- on the display like loading old march 2011 firmware on the s10.After that, all firmware loaded shows -- on the display except for clone safe anonymousx firmware. It was a genuine s10,so either the loader(which has a smaller size eromclient.abs file) or the bogus firmware ruined the tuner. If I pop the tuner out,the receiver will boot.I tried lifting a zero ohm resistor to pin 5 of the protection ic,but that just effects the sys info screen info. All those id's show zeroes after doing that(with clone safe) legit firmware still won't boot. The tuner isn't getting detected correctly with legit firmware for some reason.I ordered a new s10 and will swap out the tuner when I get it.I don't know of any program that will program the tuner back to original or even if it is possible.

biss is funny, with my provider only old openbox firmware from april 2011 works.
The may 5th 2011 firmware (1st with lan support) and firmware after that doesn't work for biss.
Nobody else complains so I assume the biss encryption is different for europe/asia.

make sure the loader is set to com 1 and also the usb device.
Most usb devices are set to an oddball com port by default.
I have used usb to serial with no problem.
Make sure you aren't turning the receiver on too fast,it should be done casually after hitting next on the loader.

the openbox requires the smt(sandmartin) bootloader or slight variations.
I have tried many firmwares- comag,setone,HD4 which may boot but the tuner and other hardware doesn't work.
There was one hacked s9 firmware that allows you to change the mac id of the receiver, that is the closest anybody ever came to converting euro receiver firmware to openbox.
Rule of thumb, the compressed firmware either as zip or rar has to be less than 1.9meg size or forget it.
There is no legit openbox firmware compressed bigger than that.
