this worked for me using cisco tftp server and #61 alpha image after being stung by clone boxes I got the sw is illegal contact dealer message on screen, needless to say dealer wasnt interested so now get them from UK.

    Preparation:
1.Install TFTP tools [csicotftp11.rar] to your PC
2.Set your PC IP addr to [192.168.40.19]
3.connect your PC to STB by LAN, now we only support LAN, do not support WLAN
4.Set default booting system to [spark]
    Upgrade Step:
1.copy [mImage] and [userfsub.img] to any folder of your PC, for example [C:/spark]
    2.select folder in TFTP tools:
3.Keep Pressing [OK] Button in Front Panel, then power on STB.
4.After 5 seconds you will see [Forc] in LED, release [OK] button and press right arrow button.
5.If everything OK, You will see [T LD] shining in LED and you will see some debug information in TFTP Server, like
“Mon Oct 25 14:02:36 2010: Sending 'mImage' file to 192.168.40.19 in binary mode
    Mon Oct 25 14:02:39 2010: Successful.
Mon Oct 25 14:02:50 2010: Sending 'userfsub.img' file to 192.168.40.19 in binary mode
    Mon Oct 25 14:03:33 2010: Successful.”
6.if upgrade success, You will see [SUCC] and STB reboot automatically
If upgrade not finishes in 5 minutes, then there must be something wrong, please check your configuration

I too was stung with some clones of the amiko, I now only purchase from authorised dealer, I also got the sw is ilegal message, and overcame it by doing the following procedure use 61 alpha image, hope it helps

This was posted on another forum so if true hopefully just a codec type issue due to a new encoding method

A Little news on whats happening for those who are yet to of seen it

Italian company NTT DATA has developed a solution, NRT Encoding, for *** Italy that by applying processes to the compression of linear channels broadcast via satellite can reduce bandwidth consumption by up to 40% whilst retaining the same quality.
Since bandwidth consumption is fundamental to the overall cost of a channel, it is clear that such a solution is potentially able to bring major savings for a broadcaster which has nearly two hundred satellite channels, such as *** Italy.

NTT DATA provides professional value, from consulting to systems development to outsourcing, combining global approach and local attention with a long-term commitment to its customers. *** Italy, for its part, is an Italian pay TV operator 100% controlled by News Corporation.
Riccardo Ferrari, senior manager, NTT DATA in Italy says: “The debut of NRT Encoding – with the first channel on the *** platform transmitted thanks to new technology – was achieved by June and by December 2013, the solution will be extended to other channels.

“We have been partners of *** Italy for several years and, just based on the experience made in the development of VoD encoding used to offer *** On Demand on all screens (PCs, smartphones, tablets and TV), came the idea of exploiting the latest encoding techniques to process an offline linear signal.”
The basic idea is very simple: in fact, NTT Data had in the past developed and provided to *** Video On Demand a system of encoding/transcoding offline input files supplied on different formats, generating an encoded version in various forms for various devices.

The system core is the same, based on AVC H264, with two different codes that share a large part of the initial encoding process, then depending on the device that requests them there are slight differences in the end-result.

This product encoding on-demand for tits services has proved extremely effective for ***, and after selecting it in the face of competition from some other major names, *** asked NTT Data to develop a different coding system that could also be used in linear systems.

Note that the file transmission for non-linear VOD has a physical beginning and an end well-defined, it is captured in full batch mode, and processed offline. The new encoding solution, meanwhile, us able to handle a continuous channel entry in linear mode and create an encoded version in output.
The linear flow input is segmented into small segments, each encoded in single mode, while a final component of the software makes a ‘merge’ of these segments in the correct way, then manages the output signal.
The process causes an important delay in the process of linear encoding from the moment the incoming stream arrives to that in when it is streamed in output. This delay is configurable, however, and preset by the broadcaster so they can establish a near real time of 5 to 10 minutes, or as required, and so everything is manageable in a concrete way by the playout systems.

The basis of this system of linear encoding by NTT Data uses very advanced techniques for encoding in H264, which also integrates open source libraries mixed with advanced techniques of adaptive encoding, rather than psycho-visual techniques.

The ‘core’ of the system of encoding works in terms of multi-step process even with very small segments. In fact, with a first passage are identified the complexity of the file and a number of useful features to better describe it, while the second coding operates on the basis of the data that the first passage has provided. The result is that you can manage a trade-off between the quality and the size of the stream. The above-mentioned basic segment is a configurable value; nell’NRT for *** has been set to 10/15 seconds so at the end of the process, the transmission of a full HD *** channel is accompanied by a bandwidth saving of as much as 40%.

not getting any audio on tsmedia or any streaming for that matter any idea what this could be since updating vix (reflash not online) if you select audio it shows up as mpeg2 undefined

have been using image for a week now..brilliant at first...but now a week on...when i am on a freesat channel and change to $ channel i have to restart softcam emu..also on first start up image goes to standby..and have to restart

I ended up using oscam couldnt get mgcamd to work at all, but box has froze completely 3 times in about two hours, when I say froze I mean froze to the extent that it need a hard reboot, shame as it had potential.

ready to give up on these amiko boxes

    Hi,

I am using vix 3.0 image and works really well but only thing I cant get to work is the GP2 Flash backup tool, it does the back fine but when I try and reflash I get nothing.

is there any other way to do a full back up

This has nothing to do with the AJ`s channel list`s Espn HD is correct with the most upto date list i suggest its probably your payservers fault also please read the rules of the site your first post should be in the introduction section,if you are using a payserver this forum does not offer support for them in anyway thanks

With regards to ESPN HD there is a problem with this list I have a ***box F3 and non of the ESPN channels work, I also have a vu solo and duo and using VIX image and ABM ESPN is fine, Picture break though I agree with your comment.

Do a manual channel scan and you will find that the ESPN channels will come back then edit into your fav's on the box, the purpose of AJ's lists is to give a start but due to constant transponder changes and updates its impossible for AJ to keep upto date but using his list make it less time consuming to edit small changes, personally I would change to Enigma2 saves all this.

i just checked the zip and its .dbs so dont know where you got .abs from , menu tools , upgrade by usb , make top box misc files and go to select youll see tp-prog at the top of the list press ok so you have a tick then press yellow button to upgrade you will be asked to press info this will show ok next to it if its done , remove stick from usb and reboot

my mistake I downloaded two at the same time one was AJ and one was yours, its all working on F3 and F5 cheers good list.

Note I renamed the fav's on the box and then done a dump if anyone wants this let me know and I will upload

Tested and working fine on F5 mate, ta.

What's the procedure you done? I tried on F3 and got the no channel message after updating, also the file is .abs I changed to .dbs first not quite sure where I am going wrong with these updates.

stevejo any idea what firmware would be needed in order to use your updates on F3 and F5 I tried using the openbox channel editor to do my own list and got same problem.

    Cheers
