Feature Request: Enhanced Backup/Restore Settings in OpenATV 7.6

    Dear OpenATV Development Team,

First and foremost, I would like to extend my sincere appreciation for the remarkable efforts and dedication demonstrated in the development of the OpenATV 7.6 alpha version. The image is performing exceptionally well, operating smoothly, and I am confident that future iterations will continue to build on this strong foundation.

That said, I would like to propose an enhancement to the Backup/Restore Settings functionality. In my opinion, the current methodology could be significantly improved to make it more user-centric, informative, and customizable. By adopting a more structured and intuitive approach, similar to the Plugin Download/Remove section, users would benefit from a more streamlined and tailored experience. This would allow them to selectively backup and restore only the settings and configurations that are relevant to their needs.

Below is a suggested framework for categorizing the Backup/Restore settings:

    1. Basic Image Settings

This category would include essential system configurations that are critical for the basic functionality of the image:

    • Network Settings: IP configurations, Wi-Fi credentials, and other network-related settings.
    • Password Settings: User passwords and access credentials.
    • Sharing Settings: Samba, NFS, or other file-sharing configurations.

    2. SoftCam Settings

This section would focus on SoftCam-related configurations, ensuring that users can easily backup and restore their SoftCam setups:

    • SoftCam Plugin: The installed SoftCam plugin and its settings.
    • SoftCam Servers: Server configurations and related data.
    • Additional SoftCam Configurations: Any other relevant SoftCam settings.

    3. Skin Settings

Users often customize their interface with different skins. This category would allow them to backup and restore their preferred skin configurations:

    • Skin 1: Primary skin settings.
    • Skin 2: Alternate skin settings.
    • Skin 3: Additional skin configurations.

    4. Plugin Settings

Plugins are a vital part of the OpenATV experience. This section would enable users to manage their plugin configurations efficiently:

    • Plugin 1: Settings for the first plugin.
    • Plugin 2: Settings for the second plugin.
    • ...etc: Additional plugin configurations.

    Benefits of This Approach

    1. User-Centric Design: By allowing users to select specific categories for backup/restore, the process becomes more aligned with their individual needs.
    2. Improved Clarity: Clear categorization eliminates confusion and ensures users understand exactly what is being backed up or restored.
    3. Efficiency: Users can avoid unnecessary backups of irrelevant data, saving time and storage space.
    4. Enhanced Flexibility: The ability to customize backups fosters a more interactive and personalized user experience.

    Conclusion

The proposed enhancement to the Backup/Restore functionality would not only improve usability but also elevate the overall user experience. By adopting a more structured and customizable approach, OpenATV can set a new standard for user-friendly image management.

    Once again,

I would like to express my gratitude for the incredible work you have done. I am confident that these features if implemented, will be a valuable addition to an already outstanding image.

Thank you for your consideration, and I look forward to seeing the continued evolution of OpenATV.

    Best regards,

    Hello,

    I have a simple Question:

How can I quickly change from watching a IPTV-stream (TV, VOD, Series) back to normal TV-Mode on my receiver? (SAT or Cable). I always have to push the "exit" - Button on my remote control a lot of times and then the channel button until this happens. I can't believe this is intended to be and I'm shure there must be a quicker way to do so. Please can you tell me? Thanx in advance :)

Assign a hot key with history zap and use it as switcher, I am using history zap selector plugin for this purpose

I don't have this receiver, this plugin is installed on my receivers. Try to install it again now and check.

I just installed the latest version and wireguard still doesn't work, it installs fine, but refuses to read servers, still the same error related to missing Wireguard-tools....

Try this solution, may be work for you,

    Do you also build feeds?

    If so, telnet:

    opkg install wireguard-tools

    opkg install wireguard-tools-bash-completion

    opkg install openresolv

    opkg install kernel-module-wireguard

If there are no errors, wireguard is ok.

reboot your gui - openatv caches skins now

I restarted it but it didn't work. It's just that there is no green color in the notification panel.

I think The logical reason is that the green color code in ipk of pli is not the same as oATV !! you can test another color and if it look same in both image, sure the issue in the color code

since you are now a coder read the code carefully..

and if you think better you will find the reason why the system uses the last 3 fonts and not the first 3

I am not developer and this is not my project, I just explain the issue and give you a tool to test it.

Previously I explained to you more about this issue and it's impact on other plugins and subtitle files for users working with Arabic letters.

Publish a plugin screw up other stuff and ignore the issue is not the right thing.

    Regards

It is not possible because I do not think you have those fonts and with those names (aliases) already installed in your box.

But here everyone is a developer now.

Simply you can make simple test, the file attached include short Arabic text with Arabic letters.

Try to open it before and after install of LinuxsatPanel

You will find nothing inside it after open your panel..

If you think you are correct, it is up to you.

LinuxSat panel does not report any changes, it only adds some fonts.

I reported this issue before, I don't know how it works but definitely it change system font especially the last three fonts,

Ok the most important issue right now is my E2iplayer. In the Arabic section, the Arabic fonts(Letters )are no longer visible.

Linuxsat panel make changes in system font, this reported before , after use the panel the Arabic letters is not supported.

So as work around, use Arabic savior plugin to restore the font support Arabic letters

You have a great plugin for stalker (Multistalker pro) try it you will impressed, through the old plugins which have conflict with the recent skins and components

Is the CD here meaning circle posters or actual CD covers? Because the CD COVER usually have different designs and show the poster of an event in complete view...

Official openpli still python 3.9.9 they are happy there,

Although this image consider a pli base image but foxbob upgrade the source to python 3.13 and add a lot of new features, you should be glad for his work and efforts.

The image is built with Python 3.13 and both plugins support only Python 3.12.8, we are waiting to get an update for both plugins.

    Update

    23/01/2025

    Stop Support Python 2

    Thanks MOHAMED OS

    Code

    curl -LJso- https://mohamed_os.gitlab.io/e2iplayer/online-setup | bash

Previously there were a short discription appeared when you selected an item, in the recent version this option disappeared....?

I haven't installed the plugin for a long time. I installed it, but it doesn't start for me.

    Code
