Thanks dsayers. Do you happen to have a link? I have looked at hs previous skins but want to make sure I get the correct one. I did notice the one I have tried using is a 2021 update, so perhaps you are right.

Hi KiddaC. My eyes are now bleeding from fatigue. I tried accessing the files you mentioned above using Filezilla, but it won't connect, even though I added a password under Network (a requirement for OpenATV 6.4). So with no choice left, I had to fresh install openATV 6.4 a fifth time. Went through the set up, including the 15 minute satellite search, added the password "root" to Network so I can access via Filezilla, then made the changes you have above, setting everything in log settings to NO (using the remote). Rebooted. Then FTP'd enigma2-plugin-skins-kiddac-shared-components_1.07_all.ipk and slyk1080r19_2.16.20210124_all.ipk
I installed the 1.07_all.ipk first. Then installed slyk1080r19 which prompted a reboot. Am now back at a frozen OpenATV logo again. I can't access via Filezilla to delete the Skin files, it says the password's wrong - even though I had previously added the network password AND rebooted.
I don't get this. I have installed your skins previously, albeit on a Zgemma H9S. No problems whatsoever. This Zgemma Star H2 won't have it. I doubt it is because the box is a little older. OpenATV 6.4 is the same, irrespective of the box it is installed on.
Can you confirm that the two plugins I have FTP'd are compatible with OpenATV 6.4 and the box I am using? I cannot think of anything that could cause this. It just doesn't make any sense. Cheers

Hi, I have been trying for hours to install Slyk 1080 R19 and end up with a frozen box, with LED display reading 00 every time. I have had to reload OpenATV 6.4 four times to try nd install the skin again, still no joy. I am sure I am doing something wrong since no one else seems to have raised the issue.
I have a Zgemma Star H2 running OpenATV 6,4, fresh install (4 times!) I have followed KiddaC instructions, installing enigma2-plugin-skins-kiddac-shared-components_1.07_all.ipk, rebooted and then installed slyk1080r19_2.16.20210124_all.ipk. My box loads up but no new skin showing. I just get the OpenATV 6.4 logo. If I press menu or any other button on the remote, nothing happens, the box is just frozen and nothing but a fresh install of OpenATV will fix this. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I have missed on done wrong? Thanks

I ordered 4-off SanDisk Cruzer Snap USB 2.0 Flash Drives - 32GB from Argos for pick up tomorrow. £4.99 each is a pretty good price. I think you're right about that USB causing these issues. I followed Gorski's guide on using the USB to increase memory etc and I think that also meant a lot of stuff stored in the box ended up moving to the USB. A read error on USB is then likely to create issues.
I get that seasoned contributors here are passionate about what they do, and we noobies or those who just don't have time to learn the hard way are very grateful that you are there to support. But you did raise a valid point in your earlier post......Just because you know, doesn't mean they know. If we the knew, we wouldn't be asking. It has been very interesting reading the different view points and seeing how ultimately you're all striving for the same thing and, despite some differences, you're all on board in making fantastic systems and plugins. Kudos for that.

Noted. I'll pick up a couple of USB or micro cards from Currys over the weekend. The two USBs I have I suspect are fake Chinese ones off eBay. They state 16GB, but they won't take more than 3.8GB. Thanks for the advice :thumbup:

Hi all. I thought I should provide a courtesy update given the time and effort you have all put into this thread. Thank you for those efforts.
I gave Pure2 one last try a week ago after picking up the toys I had thrown out the cot. Fresh Pure2 install. Loaded all the required plugins including some FNC, then installed KiddaC's skin again. (It is a great skin, honest) Anyway, a week later and the box is running like a Ferrari on steroids. No crashing, everything operating like a finely tuned Swiss clock. I haven't bothered with a USB or mem card, EPG is saved internally. I can add later if needed, but I'm not planning on any additional plugin additions. I have more than enough IPTV to keep me entertained.
I backed up this image a week ago and installed it on 2nd box and that too has been running fine, and with KiddaC's skin. Appreciate this is all going against most recommendations here but t is working, and working well. That's all I wanted. Simple ITPV & Sat with a GUI that looks good and is user friendly. I know my old man will be chuffed when he gets this for Xmas, he is currently using an old Zgemma Star H2 that is slow & just struggles.
Again, thank you all for your support.

The only thing that differs is the skin which as atari stated is not Estuary but Slyk. I see Pure2 team do not support any other skin and I know you (Gorski) say the Estuary skin is fantastic and can do tons of stuff etc. It probably can, but all I want this box to do is provide simple TV viewing via Satellite & IPTV, nothing more. The Slyk skin is attractive and the EPG side is super good., the Estuary one is not IMHO (even with the color tweaks). On that basis, I'm definitely going back to Wooshbuild.
Thanks for the help again and apols if my lack of detail created frustration.

I am going to re-flash with a fresh image now. I do appreciate the help y'all have provided, but I have to be frank, Pure2 is just not working for me. If it isn't this issue, it is something else. I know Gorski is a big fan, but the hours....actually days spent just trying to get this to work is insane. I can't have the box crash. lose EPG etc. when my 78 year old Pop gets it for Xmas, he won't have a scoobie on what to do. If it works now great, if not, back to Wooshbuild.
Thanks again for the quick feedback & support.

Hi, this is the only log that contains data. BTW, when I connected the box which has been disconnected for about 5 days, there was a message that a software update was available. Note that this Pure2 was crashing BEFORE I tried the update. The updated seemed to happen, even though the box was crashing every minute. Many thanks.
-
Okay, I figured out how to get the crash log via FTP. There are 3 logs there . Only the first has data, but there is a lot of it. Do I just copy and paste all of that here? Don't want to break any Forum rules ...Tnx
-
Thanks but how do I get a log and how do I do that when the box keeps rebooting? I'm reluctant to just re-flash in case the same issue occurs in the future. This spare H9S will be an Xmas gift for a family member, I need to be sure it won't go dilly on him. Is it possible to access this log you refer to within the minute I have before it reboots?
Thanks

Hi. I bought 2 Zgemma H9S boxes and installed Pure2 V6.5 on both. The first box ran fine for the first couple of days, so I disconnected that, connected the 2nd and installed Pure2. That too has run fine, except for issues with EPG. Anyway, I thought I better check if the EPG issues exist on the first box as well. The first box box is rebooting, or doing a GUI reboot almost exactly every 60 seconds, continuously. I have not added and plugins or changed anything, so I can't understand why this box is doing this when it was working fine when first set up. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks

Thanks Kiddac. I followed your instructions. Feesat & IPTV EPG worked but only for 24 hours.
Today, I cannot get the IPTV EPG to load. EPG Import shows the IPTV channels being imported (several thousand) but when returning to a channel or using the EPG button on RC, only Feesat channels have EPG data. IPTV shows no EPG data, even after several reboots.
I had the same issue with the original EPGImport.py file. On first run, IPTV EPG downloads and shows in EPG. But 24 hours later, it is gone. I have checked the EPG-Import settings and it is set to automatically import at 8:01 every day. Even manual import fails to resolve.

Thanks. I did exactly what you said, but no EPG feed from the provider by the look of things. I scroll to my provider in EPG Import - Sources, then press yellow (Import Current). A box comes up "EPGImport Import of EPG data will start. This may take a few minutes. Is this OK? Hit yes and it takes me back to previous screen. No EPG update takes place. I can only assume this is a provider issue?

Thanks atari. I will open any future threads under Pure2. I have two Zgemma H9S boxes, both with the Pure2 images. I installed the Sky skin on one box.
I reinstalled the Estuary skin where the Sky skin was installed, but that made no difference, so I copied the epgselection.py from the working Pure2 box with Estuary skin and installed that on the box I had reverted back to Estuary skin and it now works. EPG opens without crashing.
The problem I have now might be server side. I was getting the EPG through till late last night but now when EPG tries to update, it does so for Freesat channels but NOT IPTV. I get "download failed: Errono 2 No such file or directory." followed by the https:// address of the provider.
I have messaged the provider, I suspect that is where the issue is.

I installed the SKY_1080-R19 skin from one of your posts. I followed the instructions but alas, no EPG via EPG button

I have a Zgemma H9S with Pure2 6.5 installed. I am using the default Estuary skin. When accessing channels in the bouquet, I get the EPG data. I.e., how far along that program is, a description of what is showing etc. All good. However, if I press the EPG button on the remote, Pure2 crashes and reboots. I have looked at the EPG Importer settings and can't see anything that may cause this.
Des anyone have any suggestions on how I can get EPG to work when I press the EPG button? Thanks.

Thanks gorski. My H9S box shows the following in Flash on the Fly:
YELLOW BUTTON There are no options for yellow and pressing the yellow button does nothing.
GREEN BUTTON - Does as described
BLUE BUTTON There are no options for blue and pressing the blue button does nothing.
Only the green button works on my box and allows me to download/install a fresh Pure2 image if needed. Regarding flashing on the fly an image that was FTP'd to the box (e.g. to mSD/USB stick/HDD/SSD) where do you find the Local or Online options? I can't see any of that. It would certainly make things easier being able to do that. Thanks.

I have finally figured this out and am sharing in case anyone else wants to essentially clone their image as a back up, or to clone to another box of the same type/model. The model I have is the Zgemma H9S, running Pure2 V 6.5. The work around may be applicable to other boxes out there.
Whilst Pure2 will allow for a FULL BACKUP (clone), It looks certain that Pure2 does not have the option to RESTORE A FULL BACK UP. You can restore previous saved settings, but there is NO option to restore a full back up. So this is how I managed to get this done.
- Complete a Full BACKUP to USB. pManager - Software Manager - Full Backup of a whole image on USB/HDD
- Once the back up has been completed, you need to remove the USB and stick it in a computer. You cannot just stick the USB in the back of the Zgemma H9S box and power on whilst holding the reset button. It won't work. Why? Because they decided to have the back up image saved as a ZIP file!!!
- You will need to open the folder "Images" and extract the zip file from USB to a hard drive. The file will be called something like pure2 - 6.5 zgemmah9s - backup XXXXXXXXXX (date)
- Once unzipped to hard drive, you should have a folder called "H9" and two files, bootargs.bin and fastboot.bin
- Before copying the H9 folder & two files back to a USB, you must open the H9 folder and change "noforce" to "force"
- Delete any previous files/folders on your FAT32 formatted USB and then copy the above to USB.
- You will now have a USB with the same structure as one you would download from Pure2, except it is a clone of your system
- Power off the box, Plug USB in back. Holding the reset button down continuously, press power button on. Continue holding reset button until red LED at front of Zgemma H9S box starts flashing. Release the reset button at this point and allow the software to install.
- You should now have a clone of your entire system.
This may seem a bit convoluted, but you now have a cloned image. You could just back up your settings (if you are sure you know how to back ALL of them up), then just install a fresh Pure2 installation and restore the backed up settings, but I believe it is easier to do the above and have something you can stick in the back of the box and off you go.
-
Forgive me if this seems like a really dumb question, but how do you restore a "full image backup"? I have created a full back up of the Pure2 image but cannot see anywhere where you can restor a full image. Settings yes, but not a full image, i.e. clone.
I am sure this must be possible as is the case with other Enigma builds but guess I am not looking in the right place. Can anyone provide a guide on how to restore a FULL back up image? I have searched but getting absolutely nowhere. Thanks
