Okay, so I have reloaded Pure2. I have also installed OpenVPN with Surfsharf. Furthermore, I managed after some hours to find out how to get my IPTV from my old box installed and running by installing the apps and then using Filezilla to both boxes and copying files from old to new. This may be simple for some, but it took me ages. The box is 100% where it needs to be. No FNC plugins. Frankly, I won't need them with IPTV. Happy Days!

Yeah, I changed the skin to one that allows Channel Preview (PIG) For some reason, the guys behind Estuary skin won't modify it to include PIG, and PIG is important for us (mainly for my better half).

If Wooshbuld would allow me to extend the memory to USB, I would just go that route. (I haven't read anywhere that it does) The main reason I went Pure2 was because of the FNC plugins, but having used them, most don't work. In fact, I think only 2 were working when I tried.

Unfortunately because it won't boot and is stuck with red light, I cannot connect using Filezilla. Looks like a fresh install. Frusutrating as it took many hours to get it set up :crying1::crying1::crying1:

Not sure what has happened. Everything was working fine. I installed the app x-streamity plugin and rebooted. Now my H9S only shows a red light on boot up and won't progress. :whatthefuck::whatthefuck::whatthefuck:

I have powered off, removed the USB, reinserted, powered back on but nothing changes this, still stuck with red display on the front panel. Any ideas what I can do to remedy, or does this mean a brand new installation of Pure2? Thanks

Cheers Gorski. I followed your instructions. Had an issue when expanding Flash to USB, I was saving as boot_mSD.sh instead of boot_USB.sh. Took a few hours to figure what was wrong, but now it all seems to be running well. Surfshark installed with great download speed :party-time::party-time: and have installed the FNC plugins. I would not have been able to do any of this without your help above and previously, so big thanks to ya.

I have one additional query though. I have ordered a 2nd H9S box and would like to back up the image I did last night to then load to the new box.. Do I need to reverse the Flash expansion I did to USB, then back up the whole image and then expand FLASH back to USB? Or is there a way I can back up without doing that?

BTHW, the difference between the H9S and old H2 is quite amazing. Wish I has changed years ago.

Hi all. I've just upgraded from a very old Zgemma Star H2 to a Zgemma H9S. My old box ran on Wooshbuild Infinity, I want to run the new H9S on PurE2 so I can access the FNC Plugins. I understand FNC won't work with Wooshbuild and only works on PurE2?

I installed PurE2 6.2, but it seems quite different to Wooshbuld. No autobouquet maker in the plugins, the only FNC plugin I can see is IMDB.

Is there a ready to go PurE2 image that is already configured with FNC plugins etc? Also, should I be looking at PurE2 6.2 or 6.5. Apologies for the rookie questions here but PurE2 is completely new to me. I have spend a good few hours going round in circles wit the PurE2 setup. Thanks

I have in stalled VPN Manager on my Zgemma H2 (Wooshbuild Infinity). I am using Surshark VPN and whilst this works, it is so slow as to be unusable. When connected to the fastest server in my area (London), I get an average 1.6 Mbits/s so can only watch SD streams. When I disconnect from the VPN, I get 26.6 Mbits/s and can watch anything. I have the DNS set at 1.1.1.1 etc., but still way, way slow.

Does anyone know if this is an issue with an older Zgemma model, or is this a known issue with the Surfshark VPN? Seems odd that I can watch UHD streams 100% fine without VPN, but VPN via Surfshark reduces speed 15 fold. Tnx.

I spoke too soon. I have Surfshark installed, and it connects to various country servers. The problem is, it is SLOW, MEGA SLOW. A speed test shows a maximum of 1.8 Mbits/sec when connected to the fastest server, and >30Mbits/sec when not connected via the VPN at all. I have tried this speed test many times. Rebooted my Superhub 3 router, rebooted the Zgemma H2 box, but when connected via VPN, the max download I get is 1.8 Mbits/sec, 1.2 Mbits/sec upload. IPTV is unwatchable. I am using the Nameserver details below:

    Nameserver 1 8.8.8.8

    Nameserver2 8.8.4.4

I have online chatted surfshark support, they were unable to remedy or provide any suggestions other than to "reboot router". Does anyone know what could cause a VPN connection to slow down like this? Just FYI, I have the surfshark VPN app running on my PC and that is pretty fast, easily downloas >30Mbits/sec. But installed in the Zgemma box and it is snails pace.

When you follow DSayers instructions (which do work for Superhub 3, Virgin subscribers), you need to have a USB intalled at the back of the box. That is where all of the files are stored when you run his script. Just format the USB to FAT32 and stick it in the back of your box.

If you follow DSayers instructions, it will work, but it seems only if you have a USB installed in the box. The script tat you run (using "Putty") saves the config files to "media/HDD/SurfsharkVPN". If there is no USB connected, there is nowhere for the config files to be saved to.

I think your confusion may be because there are 2 ways to install Surfshark VPN. Gorski's way, and DSayers way. No disrespect to Gorski's method, but Dsayers methid was so, so simple. Go to the web like in my above post and follow his instructions to the letter. Ensure you have a USB in the back of your box. It took me 10 minutes and I am now up and running.

The link to Dsayers instructions is above, just click on

    Enigma2 OpenVPN Guides and scripts

Hi everyone. I am trying to reinstall my modified Wooshbuild Infinity Image. The problem is that this image is 150mB in size, which is above the 120mB limit my Zgemma H2 box will allow when using the USB method. (i.e., insert USB, power up and flash).

There is an option to "Flash Online" a new image. I have tried tat but I can't get it to work.

I plugged in my USB containing my previously backed up image. Then pressed blue button, selected software manager, scrolled down to Flash Online and pressed enter. But nothing shows in the subsequent screen. When I press the yellow button (Devices), it shows the USB Storage Device as Device /dev/sda1.

Does anyone know if an image can be flashed using "Flash online", or is there some other way to do this? As mentioned, my image is over 120mB so I cannot flsh using the traditional USB method when booting up, Thanks

Suspect18, I finally got mine working on my Superhub 3. I too kept loosing my connection when I tried to run my VPN. Solution below is from DSayers:

Go to your network settings on box and change DHPC to no then blue button to Edit DNS

Use Google's DNS as below: and save:

    Nameserver 1 8.8.8.8

    Nameserver2 8.8.4.4

Doing the above, I can now connect with VPN running and can select which country I want for my VPN.

Link for a really good way to install Surfshark on box with Virgin Superhub 3. REMEMBER to have a working USB installed in your box. And yes, you use the credentials on the Surfshark website, not your Surfshark username/password.

    Enigma2 OpenVPN Guides and scripts

    SUCCESS!!!!!!!!

After all of that, I discovered the issue was simply down to a bad USB stick. Unbelievable. That is why the errors were coming up at the end of the Putty line. It was trying to save to disc space that didn't exist, because the USB could not be read.

As a last chance saloon, I replaced my USB with a newly formatted USB, followed your instructions and within 10 minutes, voila!!

Dave you are a life saver. Even if my USB had worked from the start, there is no way I would have got this done without your support, so a big thanks again for everything!

Hi Dave. I am using OpenATV 6.2 (Wooshbuild Infinity) I installed fresh versions last night (at least 6 times. Trying to sort this out resulted in me messing up something, so my box would not load, hence having to reinstall so many times...until 4 a.m..)

I noticed sometimes when following your instructions that the media/hdd/surfsharkvpn folder was visible via Filezilla, but the folder was empty. Media/hdd/surfsharkvpn appears when I install your script, but after I reboot the box, it is gone. I will try and copy the log when I run the script with Putty and post it here (probably tomorrow after work). I can tell you that I did not see the above "inflating various OVPNs" at all. In fact, there were 2 errors toward the end of the script, something about couldn't find files or something. I'll update here with the log as soon as I can. Thanks for your support here Dave.

Suspect 18, same as me, I am not using my Surfshark Username & Password that they issued for my VPN that I use on my laptop, or the one I use to log into the Surfshark website (same one). I too am using the credentials below the OVPNs for manual set up.

I tried changing Nameserver settings to 8.8.8.8. and 8.8.4.4 , but when I reboot, it is back to the standard I.P. address.

Wish I had not gone with Surfshark

Dave, I do not have a surfsharkvpn folder in media/hdd. There are onl2 2 files in that folder: movie & timeshift.

What I did was download the OVPN configuration file from Surfshark (the one closest to me - Manchester), saved that to hard drive, renamed to "client.conf (renaming "auth-user-pass" to "auth-user-pass password.conf") I also copied the username/password from surfshark and saved that as "password.conf. I then FTP'd both to etc/openvpn. When I follow your instructions above using Putty and OpenVPN Generator, everything disappears from the "etc/openvpn folder.

So I tried just following your instructions, only copying the passwords from step 2 in Surfshark. When the box is rebooted, it still won't work.

It seems I am missing a few steps here. I have tried everything, in multiple different ways, and still cannot get this to work. Additionally, I have had to fresh install Wooshbuild 5 times now as sometimes when I try to start OpenVPN, the box hangs and when I power off, the box gets stuck on 42% during boot up.

I can't believe how difficult setting up a Surfshark VPN on an Enigma2 box is proving. Hopefully they will come up with and IPK that will automate all of this, this is just plain crazy. I am sure it is something I am doing wrong, but what I have no idea.

Hi Dave. I followed your instructions but no joy. I have even reinstalled Wooshbuild fresh, then followed your instructions. When I go to VPN Config Changer in Plugins after rebooting the box, there is no option to "choose a country". The basic menu is in German, and all you can do there is

    1. Start/Stop OpenVPN
    2. Start/Stop Check VPN,
    3. Restart Network

When I try to Start OpenVPN, I get a message "OpenVPN could not be started", in German.

I have checked my network and I am connected. I even changed the Name servers as you suggested below, still won't work.

    Nameserver 1 8.8.8.8

    Nameserver2 8.8.4.4

I have tried everything possible. I have used the credentials from Step 2 on the Surfshark Site https://account.surfshark.com/setup/manual to generate the script at http://e2openvpn.com/OpenVPN_Generator/ but that doesn't make this work either. I am completely at a loss after at least 10 hours solid of trying. Time for white flag.

Thanks Dsayers. I think I have missed a trick or 3. I downloaded and installed enigma2-plugin-extensions-vpnchanger_1.2.9_all.ipk. What that shows me is a very basic screen;- OpenVpn Status, Active Config, Vpn Check, Script. There are no numbers to choose from.

I don't suppose you have a step by step guide on how I can install Surfshark VPN on Zgemma? I would be really grateful having spend hours getting nowhere with OpenVPN and VPN Changer. Cheers.
