OK, so I am eagerly awaiting my duo after having it recommended to me by members on here. I have a motorised dish as well as an old sly minidish. Is it ok to connect both? What settings would I have to change such as Usals or whatever for either tuner? I mainly want to watch and record UK programs but still want to view the Euro sats sometimes as well.

Also....what image do users recommend...Blackhole...Enigma2....which is the best?
    Thanks all...enjoying the forum. :feel_good:

    Scooby,

connect tuner A to your motorised and tuner B to your static....you would setup A with USALS and B as a single dish....

Imagewise...try BlackHole and ViX....I've used both and settled on ViX a while back...

When your Duo comes it will be easier to wade through everything so take your time, read through the forum as much as you can and when you get stuck, come back and we'll help you get cracking!

    THE AFTERMATH

Well....I'm still completely knackered...Its going to be a very productive day!!

Great craic over in Liverpool....nice to put a few names to faces and nice to meet such a decent bunch of satellite sado's :snicker:

We were too busy ganching to take many photos so heres a choice few for your amusement!

Caz - our resident Beetles fan got his fix at the Cavern Club!

Woz shows us how the armless drink beer!

While mutz was having a cheeky kip, some random girl manages to get his knickers off!

    Highlights

    • rikjaard-real's mad stories...I don't think I'll ever forget the 'suspension' one!!
    • wozbwfc's beer drinking and money spending talent...lets not mention his jackhammer snoring abilities!!
    • musogeek sharing the love
    • cazuela & master G's smoke break banter

Special thanks to mckee25 & master G for the driving and craic!
Thanks to mutz nutz for sorting out the Saturday night dinner location!

Will we do it all again next year? Dear knows...lets get over this one first lol

Cardsharing can be considered 'breach of terms'....I leave the illegal stuff to Murdock! :snicker:

The cams are however considered to be perfectly fine in many parts of Europe with many suppliers happily telling users how to use 3rd party boxes...Sly would of course rather you didn't know any more than they tell you lol

Anyway...all the info is here fbifido and if its not its easily found via a search engine! If you're frustrated this early, it will be a long road! ;)

Best tell us what cards you have / want and what your goal is / what you want to watch!

If its a plugin you have installed manually as an ipk, you need to navigate to /usr/lib/opkg/status file and find the name of the ipk you installed

you can then remove it via telnet using the command - ipkg remove <package name>

You *can* also install this one over the top and hope it doesn't cause a conflict...

the easiest way is as mckee says...install TSpanel and remove via the uninstaller menu!

Thanks guys. Where do I get the cccam file to put into /usr/softcams? I can only seem to find ipk files.

phoenix - Am I supposed to go to that page from the box? It seems to be a list of ipk files

    many thanks

Try the ipk pheonix linked to...it should work fine! (it just auto installs it into the correct directory for you) If you want an OScam & CCcam setup then you would be best installing them separately!

You can install TS Panel if you like...it works in ViX!

There is a ViX repository within the image but if you're looking for cams you would need to get them elsewhere...

As for cccam....find a version of 2.3.0 that works with ViX...you've maybe downloaded one for a different image! Also...you don't need an ipk for ViX...just download the cccam file, place in /usr/softcams and enable in the setup menu...much easier and much more stable!

    Hi kamel,

here is the latest ViX image!

I could tell you how to do everything but flashing the image is quite easy...spend 10 minutes checking out the forum here with the search tool and you'll find what you're looking for! Cruel to be kind...you need to maintain the box so its best to start learning :)

If you're still stuck later...let us know whats giving you problems!

Great!...I'm looking forward to a leap up...! Which is the best one to get for the lowest price....I can always upgrade again later on....

Well a single tuner Vu+ Uno is £244, a dual tuner Vu+ Duo is £290 (That includes postage and discount from the sponsor)

If you want cheaper than that someone else can chip in with a recommendation...I've only ever used Vu+ boxes!!

Thank you both...I will check them out...do they have better media players than the Openbox S9? Can you hook up on the inetrnet to an EPG for UK?

They're quite a leap up from the Openbox! And yes...you can set them to download a 7 day EPG!

Yup will do, Thanks Sandman... Jeez I cant wait to set stuck into some of the tutorials here, What a site! After all my searching, Im finally home... Keep up the good work..

lol..yea theres quite a lot to read and it can be daunting but you can't break anything so trial and error is the best way to go....if you get stuck, you know where to come!

I'm not sure how cron jobs work with VTI...heres a post I made referring to BlackHole...hopefully you can tailor to suit!

If you're stuck with the cron semantics, reply with how often you want the script to run and where its located and I'll give you some tips!

How do I receive entitlements from other peers? Is that done through cccam or is this saved to the card? Would that mean that I could have a Sly package with Movies, You could have a Sly package with Sports & we could share the Sports & Movies?

In a nutshell...your box pretends to be your peers and channels decrypt as they would on their setup!

And yes...your package example would work! Make sure your family know if there are box or internet problems they won't be able to receive the channels you share with them!

1.. For starters, can i set up a card sharing server without a Dreambox? I have seen a few guides but they almost all mention the use of a Dreambox at some stage. I know my family will need a Dreambox or similar c-line capable box to share with my card, but do I need a Dreambox to set it up?

yes....You don't need a Dreambox at all....I guess the people writing the guides you've read just have this as their receiver!

2.. Could someone please point me in the right direction for hiding my IP Address of my local Server.

Hiding it from what? If you mean so nobody can find out the 192.168.xxx.xxx address then you need to setup NAT from your router...ie. request comes in to your DNS and your router points the request to your local server....having a secure listening port for your cam will ensure a more secure setup!

3.. Do I need to purchase a Full Subscription to set up card sharing for the full service or can I do anything with the card? I have a basic white card at the moment, can I do anything to unlock channels through that or do I need the host card to have all the channels subscribed to? I have read about updating entitlements etc, (Is this just like activating the card or is it a bit darker)?

No...you can't 'unlock' the channels...you can of course receive entitlements from other peers but there is no hack to unlock per se! Entitlement updates are Sly checking your subscription and then refreshing your entitlements...its automatic these days if you use the likes of OScam

4.. If I get my family to spend money on these cccam box’s will I get at least a few years out of them or are the big providers clamping down? I don’t expect it to last for ever but from what I can see the only solution would be for the big providers to replace all the box’s out there at the moment and surely that’s a no go.

Thanks in advance to anybody who can shed a bit of light on this for me.

Its all caveat emptor I'm afraid...it could all end tomorrow!

As Muso says...Remote Channel Stream Converter will do what you need...I've read good reports with usage on ViX!

Install from /tmp as normal and access via Menu --> Setup --> Service Searching --> Remote Channel Stream Converter

Thanks to Rob VDD for the ipk! (oh...i see fogonero has uploaded it here as well, cheers!)
