Its going to come down to personal preference! The Ultimo is a newer box with newer hardware but cams will work fine on both boxes...you'll have no problem there!

    thanks m8s
well my card is full pakagge with HD, so it should be there, but they have to activate this.
my card is very happy in my dreambox and serving a few friends.
does it mean it has to go in the old digibox original to activate this 3d channel?
or can oscam, reading my card, manage the update?
    thanks amigos

I had to put my card back in my original box for it to give me an entitlement for the 3D channel! You can upgrade to the channel for free online and the update is usually pretty quick!

    slain!

I've done the VFD picons by hand...I'm not sure how elegant automating the process would be tbh and a fair number of the regular picons just don't work on the VFD display so I usually remove the graphic and replace with the appropriate text!

Give it a go and report back but I've a feeling they'll look a lot better done manually!

You don't need to worry about actually logging in with this new user! Its just created so the Vu+ box can access your Windows 7 machine properly!

Not sure about the media plugin...are the files in a compatible format? Do you have them in separate folders or all in the same folder?

I don't stream anything to the Vu+ but this may help someone else troubleshoot with you!

    DB,

you create an administrator user and just share your 'Movies' folder, you don't need to create another one!

When you type '\\SERVERNAME' into the top of any folder window in Windows 7, you should see all your shares and if you've set it up right one of them should be 'Movies' (if that makes sense!)

    - SERVERNAME is the name of your Windows machine BTW!

    Alan,

I would suggest you create a second administrator on your windows box with username 'vu' and password 'vu', then advanced share the folder in question giving full share rights to that user...

I wrote this on another forum a while back (the menus are BH related so just change where appropriate to VIX! Also..server share in your case is '/Movies')

"Heres how I mount my Windows 7 drive -

    1. create folder on PC - mine is called 'vu'
    2. create administrative user on PC, to keep things simple lets call the user 'vu' and the password 'vu'
    3. share the folder : properties --> sharing --> advanced sharing --> make sure 'share this folder' is checked and click permissions --> make sure everybody has full control

    On your Vu+ box -

    1. menu --> setup --> system --> Network --> Mount Manager
    2. Add a new network mount point
    3. Active - yes, local share name - nas, mount type - CIFS share, server IP - (enter PC IP here), server share - /vu, username - vu, password - vu

Don't select 'use as hdd replacement' as I've seen this do some funny things....manually amend recording paths and recorded files path!"

either me or Sandman is at crossed wires here - I thought you meant on your PC server, and Sandman seems to think you mean on a receiver...:misdoubt:

lol...I should go to bed ;)

Yea...i was thinking he was talking about 2 different boxes!

You'll still not notice any improvement other than boot time....the read / write cycles just aren't intense enough to take advantage of an bonus an SSD provides!

...but if you've the money and your server is small then why not...can't take it with you :)

    triscross,

you'd be wasting your time tbh....the box would never take advantage of the SSD and eco drives would run just as quiet in this environment!

keep your picons, epg etc on a USB pen drive and just use the internal HDD for recording

Remember you can also record to your server and use it as your timeshift and record/playback system!

    Junger,

I spent a fair while trying to find and amend a monitoring script but IMO none of them work!!

In the end I moved to VIX and rather than having to restart OSCam sometimes 2-3 times a day, its now 2-3 times per week....

Make sure you're running OSCam 65xx as well...it seems to be the most stable yet!
