If you want to see programs in the original aspect ratio then its Pillarbox for 4:3 and Letterbox for 16:9!

You can scale your 4:3 content but obviously you lose while zooming and the aspect ratio makes everything fatter!

As for scart vs HDMI...if you have a TV with HDMI then definitely use this...scart is pretty dead and only used on older TV's or if you're sending an SD signal to a second room or similar!

After a very close run between Amsterdam and Liverpool, 'we' think it best to have the first meet in Liverpool!

Maybe Amsterdam for next year but as it stands the majority of the core interested in going can get to Liverpool much easier! :snicker:

The meet is set for Saturday the 28th April at <location to be determined>

If you're interested in going for the day, evening or whole weekend, please indicate in this thread and I'll start compiling names!

I'll keep this open until next Sunday (the 25th) so we can begin looking for a venue for dinner!

mckee25, master G and myself will be travelling from NI via the boat and mckee has generously offered to cover the boat gratis via his employee benefits!

This means we have 2 additional places up for grabs on a first come first served basis so confirm here asap and you can have a spot! You'll be expected to provide a boy band mix cd/playlist, give mckee a massage and consume wild amounts of Buckfast number 9 to be considered for the trip but we can work out the 'ins and outs' later!*

Obviously a fair few of us will need accommodation so let me know if you want to stay with the group....we'll book somewhere sensibly priced and can work out the arrangements as this progresses...

If you have any suggestions for places to go or things to do, please add below! A few have suggested The Cavern Club for Friday night so numbers pending that should be worth a look!

So...if you fancy a crazy night of nerd chat, satellite groupies and Liverpool hotties dying to hear about your cams, reply below and we'll keep you in the loop as things are finalised! beer10

Please only confirm if you can *definitely* go! Deposits may be required for accommodation and/or dinner depending on where we book so we need firm numbers to make things as easy as possible!

    * May not actually be true

Could someone explain what is meant here, I cannot see why some hops would disappear,

    br

Usually you put the shares in your STB so you get hop 1 from the peer and hop 2 from their peers....if you put the shares in your server, you get hop 2 from the server and hop 3 (the peers peers) is now lost as most people only give out 2 hops!

A workaround is to put your local cards in the server and your shares in your STB!

hi, i have been sharing my cards with a few family and friends for the last few months ok. i have now changed my isp who cannot provide me with a fixed ip address: so i assume i will now have to use a dydns/noip type server. looking around i see many options, some free, some pay a little and some pay alot.
can anyone recommend what is most suitable for sharing (up to max about 10 friends/family)

DynDNS would be the best (cost effective) paid solution...they used to be free but started charging last year...still worth it IMO!

If you don't want to pay, an alternative is no-ip.org!

    canford,

I've split your questions off so you get a better response in your own thread!

If you're looking for a Sly UK card then yes, you need to get it direct....you can get Sly Italia & Deutchland cards from other sources but I assume you'd prefer all English programming!

As for a football card, if you're looking for decent all round coverage but not premiership then you can't go wrong with a JSC Sports card....there are plenty of options for English Premiership but the quality varies and TBH you'd be better getting them via shares once you have a decent card or 2 of your own!

Do you guys know of any good places to buy your card from, new to this so please bear with us.

card or reader canford? The reader is around €60/£55 from a fair few retailers...if its a card you're looking for, what card are you interested in?

Argolis Smargo Smartreader Triple Reader is the one you mean - I ordered one myself and should arrive tomorrow or wednesday - just did a network install of Debian on my old crappy lappy and got the CCcam 2.1.3/Oscam auto install done as well, server is up and running - not working anything just yet - just need to wait 'till the reader arrives so I can really have some fun!

Fancy doing a 'how to' with notes and pics? :haha:

I'm thinking of a build myself now....I think I've run out of projects to tinker with :10lol:

Are there any decent internal readers? Most appear to either be a USB stick or hub....
