I have a openbox s9 in one of the rooms in my house and have just bought S12 for another room.
I know that i can use the same channel list on the S12, but can i also use the same software as the s9?

ecm times with the smargo on a *ky channels were 135ms - 142ms
with the omnikey on the same channel are steady at 92ms to 97ms -
I followed the advice of silverfox and bought omnikey reader from eb*y for £7.99. works so much better and as silverfox said reduces the ecm times considerably.

this is good news for all living out in Spain. previously many of these channels could only be received with 2.4m dish. now for 1N all ok with 1M

I found using a omnikey cardreader gave much better ecm times than a smargo
-
thanks for that Ten Below,( and of course to alamski) worked straight away and reduced ecm times by about 40% over smargo
-
thanks for replies, Ten Below are you saying that all i need to do is edit oscam config file. (i did use alamski install)

Hi help needed please:
i have seen and followed so far the tut on setting up on ubuntu.
when i give this command nano /etc/opensc/opensc.conf
I expected to see these lines (or something similar as from the tut and them edit them as shown.And change thise lines by removing # from front and reader_drivers lines u delete one comand too:
reader_drivers = pcsc, ctapi;
try_emulation_first = yes;
lock_login = false;
provider_library = /lib/libpcsclite.so.1however what i see is nothing like the tut.
do i simply add these lines into the config. file and remove what is there. -
more new channels on astra 1N:

thanks for that, you are correct it is part of the smartreader tools, but did not work anyway, perhaps my problem was different as the server does recognise the smargo, but just doesnt read the card.
anyway i was thinking of trying a omnikey reader but unsure which model to buy as there appear to be several different models. could anyone tell me which is the one most used with ubuntu server?
i see 3121 advertised most, is this ok? -
thanks for this info
i am ok with opening and soldering the link ok but what is this:
Run ./srp_update_x86 -bdo i just type ./srp_update_x86 -b in Run in the start up menu or is it something i should download?
